About the job
kapa.ai is the infrastructure layer for AI-powered technical knowledge. We make it possible for companies to turn their documentation, support content, and internal knowledge into AI assistants that actually work on hard technical questions. 200+ companies, including OpenAI, Mixpanel, n8n, monday.com, Vodafone, Grafana, Logitech, and Nokia, use Kapa on their websites, inside their support workflows, and internally for their teams. We've answered more than 20 million questions to date, and our customers increasingly treat Kapa as core AI infrastructure, not just a chatbot.
Check out our product and docs to see what we’re building.
We're looking for an AI Engagement Manager to own a portfolio of Kapa's most important customer relationships and drive how these companies leverage AI to transform their internal and external technical experiences. Think equal parts strategist, relationship-builder and technical advisor. You'll go deep on how customers use Kapa, push them to get more out of it, and own the retention and expansion outcomes that come from doing that well.
You'll work directly with Kapa's Customer Success Lead, joining the function in its early days and helping define how we scale to 500+ customers while maintaining exceptional net revenue retention. You'll be the person our customers trust to push the boundaries of what's possible with their Kapa deployments, and internally you’ll help translate customer feedback into concrete product and commercial priorities.
Why this is an absurdly rare opportunity
You'll work with a team of 25+ stacked with former founders and operators from NASA, McKinsey, BCG, Airbnb, Uber, CERN, and Goldman Sachs. This is a team made of insanely ambitious people who are passionate about building, shipping, and scaling.
On top of an excellent team, we are backed by amazing investors:
- Initialized Capital (Garry Tan, YC President & Alexis Ohanian, Reddit co-founder)
- Amjad Masad & Michele Catasta, Founder & VP of AI at Replit
- Douwe Kiela, Stanford Professor, co-author of the original RAG paper, founder of Contextual AI
- OpenAI engineers
- Y Combinator (S23)
What you’re actually signing up for
This role is high-stakes and high-autonomy. You will:
- Own end-to-end customer outcomes for a portfolio of strategic accounts, from onboarding through renewal and expansion. You are directly accountable for retention and growth.
- Lead technical and strategic discussions with customers, including QBRs, implementation planning, and ad-hoc problem-solving sessions. You should be able to hold your own in conversations about APIs, integrations, RAG pipelines, and AI deployment patterns.
- Identify and close expansion opportunities through deep understanding of customer usage, organisational dynamics, and product fit. You partner with our Account Executives on commercial motions but you drive the insights and the relationships.
- Spot risk early through usage analysis and proactive engagement, and act on it decisively.
- Synthesise customer feedback into actionable product and strategy input.
- Build the playbook. Contribute to scalable processes, frameworks, and resources as we grow the function.
You might be a great fit if:
- You're based in Copenhagen, Denmark or willing to relocate
- You get excited by helping world-leading companies push the boundaries of what's possible with AI
- You have solid technical skills and a strong technical curiosity. You don't need to be an engineer, but you should be comfortable leading technical discussions alone
- You have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build rapport with both technical and business stakeholders
- You LOVE AI and use AI-based tools extensively seven days a week
- You enjoy extremely high-paced environments. This role is both very intense and very rewarding
- You operate with high agency and instinctively take ownership
- You thrive in unstructured environments and excel at prioritising and establishing systems
- You've built AI applications yourself (vibe-coded hobby projects absolutely count)
Who we think this person is
The ideal candidate likely has 3-7 years of experience. Maybe they come from one of these two paths:
- Top-tier strategy consultant with a technical angle (a technical degree, a digital/analytics practice, or similar technology-heavy engagements)
- Customer-facing or founding role at a high-growth B2B SaaS or developer tools company, where you owned outcomes (not just relationships), led technical discussions and operated with real autonomy.
What matters most: you combine commercial instincts with solid technical depth. You're not a project manager who routes requests. You're someone who can diagnose a customer's problem, propose a solution, and drive it to completion with minimal hand-holding. You’re excited by scary challenges and willing to roll up your sleeves to solve them :)
About the interview:
- Intro chat with Customer Success Lead (20 min)
- Paid take-home assignment
- Role-play customer scenario based on a real situation (45 min)
- Interview with Emil, Kapa co-founder (20 min)
- 2-3 day paid work trial (in-office in Copenhagen) to collaborate with the team and assess culture fit
