Reporting directly to the CFO, the team is small, agile, and responsible for investments across the energy value chain—including conventional oil & gas, LNG, geothermal, power generation, and hydrogen.

Using a broad range of financial instruments such as equity, debt, leases, and guarantees, the team deploys capital to unlock growth while ensuring sound financial stewardship and robust risk management.

As a Senior Associate – BD, Capital Solutions, you will support the structuring, evaluation, and execution of strategic investment opportunities that align with Baker Hughes’ long‑term commercial and operational priorities. You will contribute across all phases of the investment lifecycle, partnering with senior team members, internal stakeholders, customers, and portfolio companies to analyze opportunities, assess risks, and support ongoing portfolio performance.

As the Senior Associate – BD, Capital Solutions, you will be responsible for:

  • Participating in and assisting with the coordination of financial due diligence for new underwriting and ensuring accuracy of financial metrics for potential investments; supporting the drafting and refinement of credit memorandums and senior leader investment presentations.

  • Providing evaluation, analysis, valuation, and due diligence of minority equity investments, joint ventures, leases, and deferred payments for Capital Solutions investment opportunities.

  • Leading the performance monitoring and management process for Baker Hughes’ existing portfolio of development‑stage energy infrastructure and venture capital investments.

  • Building, auditing, reviewing, and distilling complex financial modeling results into executive‑ready PowerPoint presentations or Word memorandums.

  • Supporting presentations and walkthroughs of deal attributes or portfolio performance to internal support groups.

  • Reviewing and assessing investment opportunities to identify, categorize, and document key risks and opportunities for Baker Hughes.

  • Providing input to senior team members on deal structure and negotiation points to support new and restructured transactions.

  • Managing Capital Solutions reporting of key performance indicators—including income, exposure, equipment pull‑through, and contribution margin—for the Audit Committee and internal stakeholders.

  • Supporting legal document review and verifying that key financial and strategic considerations are accurately incorporated.

  • Participating in face‑to‑face and periodic meetings with customers and portfolio companies.

  • Coaching junior staff in the preparation of funding approvals, invoicing, and ongoing administrative requirements related to the investment portfolio.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have excellent analytical skills with high proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in Word and PowerPoint.

  • Have strong financial statement analysis capabilities.

  • Have knowledge of the energy sector.

  • Have a solid grasp of GAAP accounting principles.

  • Have the ability to support several projects simultaneously, demonstrating effective problem‑solving skills and proven analytical and organizational capability.

  • Have experience in investment banking, private equity, private credit, or similar private capital roles preparing financial models, term sheets, and deal proposals.

  • Have the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment while coordinating across multiple internal stakeholder groups.
