MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

General Ledger / Month-end Accounting

  • Oversee day-to-day processes and monthly close activities and review within required timelines, covering the GL module in Oracle;
  • Record and reconcile transactions, manage associated schedules and supporting documentation;
  • Conduct variance analysis and investigate any material or unusual variances;
  • Ensure accounting journal entries are properly documented and supported;
  • Participate in month-end reviews with stakeholders;
  • Record correcting journal entries;     
  • Prepare sheet reconciliations for designated balance sheet accounts.

Reporting

  • Ensure designated entity audits and tax filings are completed and filed with the relevant authorities on a timely basis;
  • Manage the external year-end statutory reporting process for designated entities within the region, and act as a “point person” for audit queries (to include liaising with external auditors on audit matters such as scheduling, information requests, preparation of the financial statements and supporting letters and documents);
  • Assist in the preparation of tax computations for designated entities and liaise with external tax agents as necessary regarding any outstanding issues;
  • Ensure designated annual tax reporting packages are completed and submitted to the US Corporate office on a timely basis;
  • Complete monthly consolidation system load and rollforwards for designated entity/entities;
  • Assist in preparing designated monthly and quarterly deliverables for submission to the US Corporate office;
  • Support the Controller on ad-hoc month-end close compliance and reporting tasks.

Compliance

  • Ensure all accounting is accurate and complete and in compliance with US GAAP (as well as local accounting standards where relevant), and corporate financial policies as applicable, or to seek accounting guidance where needed;
  • Ensure compliance with all other regional and corporate policies; 
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley processes and controls;
  • Provide supporting documentation for internal controls testing as required;
  • Support the Controller on ad-hoc controls and compliance projects/tasks; 
  • Complete mandatory corporate compliance courses within stipulated timelines.

Continuous Improvement

  • Continually review processes by challenging, analysing and testing established methods, practices and procedures to validate their effectiveness; recognize continuous improvement opportunities and tackle these areas proactively.

Other 

  • Participate in Regional and Global Projects as required;
  • Other tasks or projects as required and/or directed.

WORKING EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Degree in Accountancy or equivalent, with minimum 5 years relevant accounting/audit experience.  Experience in a Big 4 Accounting Firm will be an advantage;
  • Holds current CPA accreditation;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and experience working with enterprise financial systems such as Oracle or SAP;
  • Able to manage and prioritise time and be committed to meet deadlines for assigned tasks and deliverables;
  • Meticulous with an eye for detail and have strong analytical capabilities;
  • Able to work independently with minimum supervision; 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Displays initiative and a positive attitude that would contribute to a harmonious team working environment.
