Job Description Summary

The Financial Analyst II assists with performing professional financial analysis to support optimal decision-making for the organization. Responsible for insuring that all financial information generated is accurate and timely.

Job Description

The Financial Analyst II will:

  • Perform financial analysis including financial modeling, reporting, and building management review presentations using financial and encounter reporting tools and data.

  • Provide key support and analysis in annual operating and capital budget planning process.

  • Collaborate with and provide technical and analytical support to department managers in preparation of department level budget and monthly variance analysis.

  • Prepare monthly reports (specifically financial performance and budget tracking) and communicate trends and issues that impact the business.

  • Assist with conducting financial and market analysis on various internal initiatives and external business development opportunities.

  • Identify and recommend areas of improvements such as increasing the level of data accuracy or decreasing the time spent to update a model or report.

  • Educate self through industry readings, conferences, and other forums on critical financial and healthcare trends.

  • Perform financial risk and care/cost variation analysis including some advanced statistical techniques. 

  • Perform all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

Reporting Relationships

Reports directly to the Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Bachelor's degree required - preferably in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting or a related field.

  • Master’s degree in business, Finance, Economics, Accounting or a related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience supporting an FP&A team, preferably in a healthcare environment.

  • Advanced financial skills, including a core understanding of the relationship between income statement, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows.

  • Ability to apply critical thinking and analytic skills to formulate recommendations and resolve problems.

  • Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) in a clear and concise manner.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize concurrent responsibilities and meet timelines.

  • Proficient with Excel functionality such as lookups, pivot tables, and charts.

  • Experience with financial planning tools such as Adaptive Planning preferred.

  • Experience with other financial based software programs such as Tableau and Decision Tools (or other statistics, optimization, and Monte Carlo simulation tool) preferred.

  • Able to grasp and apply new concepts quickly.

  • Ability to work in a high pressure, deadline oriented, and complex health care environment.

Working Conditions

  • Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature.

  • Work requires ability to sit at a computer for long stretches, and visual ability to read numbers clearly.

  • Hybrid work model.

Pay and Benefits*:

Pay Range: $61,800.00 annually  - $102,800.00 annually
