Job Summary: The Office of Protective Services located at Ames Research Center (ARC) Moffett Field, California, is looking for a dynamic professional to join our team as an Information and Industrial Security Specialist. This role involves the protection of classified and sensitive information; identification, classification and declassification of information; development of and provision of security training and review of contractor security classification data.

Major Duties:

  • Duties described below are at the highest grade advertised. Duties assigned at lower grade levels will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee.
  • Develop, interpret, and implement security education training programs and materials; support development, publication, execution, and enforcement of regulations, policies, and laws related to Information and Industrial Security.
  • Manage security programs to protect classified national security and sensitive information; manage identification, safeguarding, classification, downgrading, and declassification activities to ensure proper handling and use of classified information.
  • Ensure compliance with NASA Information and Industrial Security Programs and 32 CFR Part 117 National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM); coordinate internally/externally to identify information/industrial security best practices.
  • Review DD Form 254 to ensure accurate classification guidance, safeguarding requirements, and contractor access to classified information; coordinate with contracting staff and support Facility Security Clearance (FCL) sponsorship actions.
  • Investigate security violations/potential data spills; respond to and report breaches to limit data loss and ensure incidents involving classified information or Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) are reported in accordance with NASA policy.

Qualifications: Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. To qualify for GS-12, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level: Assisting with implementation of information and/or industrial security programs to support compliance with established security policies and procedures; Supporting classification, safeguarding, or handling of classified and sensitive information in accordance with security requirements; Implementing security education or awareness activities and assisting with reporting or response to security incidents or violations. To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level: Planning, coordinating, and implementing information and/or industrial security programs to ensure compliance with Federal and/or Agency security requirements; Reviewing and applying classification guidance, including contractor security classification requirements, to support safeguarding of classified and sensitive information; Developing and delivering security education or training programs and responding to security incidents or violations to protect classified information and prevent data loss.
