A fantastic opportunity has presented itself for a Safety, Environment and Wellbeing Consultant NSW reporting to Executive Manager Safety, Environment and Wellbeing (Health, Wellbeing & Inspections).
Max Term Contract for 12 months located in NSW.
A bit about your role
As the Safety, Environment and Wellbeing Consultant, you will play a trusted and influential role in strengthening nbn’s safety culture by supporting business units to take genuine accountability and ownership for safety and wellbeing. This is a hands-on, in-field role, conducting field inspections across NSW on the nbn network, across both our internal workforce and our delivery partners. You will provide specialist, practical advice that helps leaders and field teams confidently manage hazards, critical risks and safe work practices, while embedding safety and wellbeing into everyday planning and delivery of work.
In this role, you will partner closely with operational leaders and frontline teams to identify emerging risks through meaningful engagement, incident insights and data-led analysis. You will contribute to continuous improvement priorities, support the introduction of new processes and remain current with evolving legislation, standards and best practice. A core part of your week will be spent in the field across NSW, coaching leaders and crews, and delivering in-field inspections and audits across work completed by both nbn employees and our delivery partners. Through your collaborative approach, you will help create safer outcomes for our people while enabling operational performance across a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
A bit about you
If this sounds like the role for you, you bring a strong foundation in safety, environment and wellbeing and hands‑on experience in complex, field‑based industries such as telecommunications or construction. You are known for your ability to connect with people at all levels, from senior leaders to frontline workers, and you influence through trust, clarity and shared purpose.
You are pragmatic, calm under pressure and comfortable navigating change, with the confidence to work autonomously while balancing competing priorities. Your communication style is warm, clear and respectful, and you value collaboration as a pathway to sustainable safety outcomes. You are curious, committed to learning and motivated by making a tangible difference for people and communities. With a purpose‑led mindset and a genuine care for wellbeing, you will feel at home supporting nbn teams in the field, including regular intrastate and occasional interstate travel, as you help build a safer, healthier future together.
