PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Retail Store Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Deer Valley retail stores to ensure sales goals are met, excellent guest service is delivered, and brand standards are upheld. This role leads a team of associates and supervisors, driving performance, managing inventory in stores, and creating a positive and productive work environment. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Sales & Guest Experience 

  • Lead by example to deliver outstanding guest service and in-store experience 

  • Meet or exceed store sales and profitability goals 

  • Monitor KPIs, conversion, and other sales metrics to optimize performance 

  • Implement and maintain visual merchandising standards and ensure store cleanliness and organization 

Leadership & Staff Development 

  • Recruit, hire, train, and retain a high-performing team 

  • Conduct regular coaching, feedback, and performance reviews 

  • Develop staff through training programs, goal setting, and growth opportunities 

  • Create schedules that ensure adequate coverage while staying within labor budget 

  • Work with vendors to coordinate staff training and product knowledge 

Operations & Inventory 

  • Maintain accurate inventory levels and execute daily restocking, cycle counts, sending and receiving transfers. 

  • Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and safety standards. 

  • Manage POS operations with accuracy and integrity. 

  • Coordinate with buyers or distribution teams as needed for product flow and feedback. 

  • Oversee service and operations of service desks and in store vendor shops. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • 3–5 years of experience in retail management, preferably in the outdoor or winter sports industry. 

  • Previous experience with technical ski brands and products preferred. 

  • Proven ability to lead teams and drive sales in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. 

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. 

  • Proficient with POS systems, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office Suite. 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 40 lbs for extended periods. 

  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and peak seasons.
