Summary of Job Duties:

The Research Assistant supports basic and translational research activities by processing biological specimens, conducting laboratory experiments, analyzing data, and assisting with the presentation and publication of findings. This role ensures the integrity, accuracy, and quality of research operations while maintaining compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in biology, chemistry, or related scientific field plus one (1) year of research experience required.

  • Must feel comfortable and confident when handling hazardous substances: physical (sharps), biological (human tissue and fluids) and chemical (formaldehyde, dry ice and liquid nitrogen).  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous research experience in single-cell sequencing and bioinformatics analysis

  • Basic knowledge of standard computer software (e.g., Word, Excel)


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Process and prepare biological specimens in accordance with established laboratory protocols

  • Perform laboratory-based research experiments and assist with study procedures

  • Analyze experimental data and summarize findings for the Principal Investigator

  • Maintain accurate and detailed research records, including equipment logs, experimental data, analysis documentation, and protocol deviation reports

  • Conduct data management activities such as data entry, document filing, and record archiving

  • Coordinate research trial activities, including scheduling laboratory tests, exams, and study-related procedures

  • Assist with preparation and submission of manuscripts, abstracts, and research presentations

  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies, safety standards, and research regulations

  • Support the overall integrity and quality of research initiatives

  • Perform other duties as assigned
