Position Overview

Join S&P Global Market Intelligence's Commercial team to manage relationships with financial institutions in Japan. You'll develop strategic account plans, drive client retention, and identify new business opportunities across Financial Institutions including asset management and investment firms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Account Management — Own the complete relationship with financial institutions across domestic and overseas business; manage revenue growth targets through client retention, price negotiations, and new business referrals
  • Strategic Planning & Execution — Build and execute strategic account plans in collaboration with sales teams, relationship managers, and product specialists
  • Client Engagement — Conduct diagnostic conversations to identify usage opportunities, expand user base, and uncover new service opportunities; serve as primary contact for all client inquiries
  • Relationship Building — Identify and establish relationships with key contacts at multiple organizational levels to strengthen client partnerships
  • Market Intelligence & Feedback — Gather competitive intelligence, monitor product offerings, and translate client feedback into actionable strategies for new business and competitive risk mitigation
  • Pipeline Management & Collaboration — Monitor renewal pipeline using Salesforce.com; coordinate with order management, product, legal, and finance teams to execute renewals and deliver optimal client solutions

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of direct financial industry experience in client-facing or analytical roles (investment banking, equity research, commercial lending, money management, or financial consulting preferred)
  • Fluent Japanese and business-level English (oral and written)
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with ability to convey information clearly and logically to clients
  • Strategic planning and execution abilities with strong time management and relationship-building skills
  • Multitasking and flexibility — ability to prioritize activities aligned with client and revenue goals while maintaining high attention to detail
  • Technical proficiency — experience with CRM systems (Salesforce.com) and ability to perform routine tasks with accuracy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Negotiation experience with clients on terms and pricing
  • Financial modeling background and corporate finance knowledge
  • MBA, CFA, or CPA credentials
  • International work experience or exposure to diverse backgrounds
  • Familiarity with data vendor services (Bloomberg, FactSet, Thomson Reuters, Uzabase, Moody's, etc.)
