Work Schedule: Mon - Fri, 7:00am to 4:00pm

Responsible for maintaining the charge master on a compliant, standardized, and efficient basis as well as performing analyses to understand the reimbursement impact of proposed charge master changes. This position reports to the Senior Reimbursement Manager with a collaborative working relationship with other Finance Division staff and also works with other department and affiliate employees.

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions

Supervise Charge Services Assistant personnel including direct involvement in hiring, orienting/training, counseling and evaluating performance.

Maintain charge master and pricing schedules for all patient accounting systems.

Provide an electronic audit trail for charge master changes, additions and deletions.

Utilize charge master compliance tools to verify compliance with coding and regulations and take appropriate action as indicated.

Participate in charge master audits and implement recommended process and charge master changes.

Work with the revenue producing departments to perform applicable analyses to understand charge master proposed changes.

Inform management of changes in regulations and coding including evaluating the impact to the Health System.

Analyze market information and recommend price schedule changes.

Assist Senior Reimbursement Manager in formulating and implementing policies and procedures.

Proactively research for reimbursement improvements.

Provide excellent customer service in response to requests or inquiries from other departments within the Health System, as well as external parties.

Participate in testing of patient accounting system code upgrades and new system implementations.

Participate in departmental meetings as well as special projects and represent the Finance Division as assigned.

Assist with the year-end audit including involvement with the auditors, preparation of audit schedules and support, and responding to inquiries from the auditors.

Job Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor degree required or 10 years of work history related to coding/charge master required.


Experience

  • Minimum five years related work experience required, preferably in charge master or revenue integrity.
  • Understanding of hospital billing, revenue cycle and reimbursement required.
  • Experience in researching complex coding and regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with healthcare information systems and databases is required.
  • Must have a good understanding of the Charge Description Master (CDM) and its relationship to related areas such as the General Ledger, Productivity, Cost Reporting and Budget.
