What you'll do:

Western Alliance Bancorporation is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Regulatory Reporting Financial Data Manager to join our Accounting team. The Manager will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, appropriateness and quality of data in the Company’s data repository which is ultimately utilized in the Company’s regulatory reporting. Ownership includes overseeing and maintaining a high-quality data pipeline from source systems to the data repository. The Manager will be responsible for reviewing changes to existing data as well as additions of new data entering the repository. This person will liaise with the Regulatory Reporting team and key business stakeholders, including IT, Data Governance and third-party service providers. In addition to working with the regulatory data streams, the Manager will have additional responsibilities on the Financial Systems Team. Tasks may include administrative and project work in Oracle ERP & the Oracle EPM Suite, specifically, EPBCS, EDM, ARCS and FCCS.
The ideal candidate will have robust knowledge of accounting, banking products, regulatory reporting frameworks, and data management processes including banking related data management guidance. The candidate will also possess the ability to interpret and analyze large data sets in support of compliance and business decision-making.
  • ollaborate with Finance, IT, Data Governance and key business stakeholders/data owners to source, reconcile, and validate financial data.
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and accuracy across multiple reporting platforms and regulatory submissions including in the regulatory reporting analytics data store(s) within Bank’s Enterprise Data Platform.
  • Support regulatory change initiatives by analyzing impacts on reporting processes and controls.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of reporting processes, methodologies, and transformation (data lineage and traceability).
  • Support internal and external audits, SOX reviews, Regulatory Reporting Oversight reviews and ad hoc reporting requests.
  • Drive automation and process improvement initiatives to enhance reporting efficiency and accuracy.
  • Setup new accounts & metadata in Oracle EDM (Enterprise Data Management).
  • Perform maintenance in Oracle EPBCS (Planning), FCCS (Close & Consolidation) and ARCS (Account Reconciliation).
  • Perform administrative tasks in Oracle ERP, such as creating Cross-Validation rules, editing Accounting Hub, and various configuration settings.
  • Support end users of the Oracle platform with ad-hoc requests or questions.

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics, or related field. Masters or MBA in related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in banking, financial services, regulatory reporting, or similar field.
  • Certified Public Accountant preferred.  Other professional certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM, ACCA) a plus.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of general banking operations, including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management and/or other commercial banking products and services.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
  • Intermediate to advanced ability to work independently and balance multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Experience with regulatory reporting systems (e.g., AxiomSL, Wolters Kluwer, Moody’s, OneSumX, or equivalent) a plus.
  • Advanced to expert knowledge in SQL, Excel, and financial data analysis; exposure to Python, R, or other data analytics tools a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of information management best practices including (but not limited to) data governance, database management, and data lineage.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reconciliation skills.
  • Advanced written and communication skills, with ability to work across business, risk, and technology teams.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to meet tight deadlines in a regulated environment.
  • Previous leadership experience preferred.
