PATH seeks a Regional Technical Malaria Specialist for the USG-funded Reaching every at-risk community and household with malaria services (REACH Malaria) global project. REACH aims to provide implementation support services and technical assistance to countries to accelerate progress in comprehensive delivery of facility and community-based malaria services, including malaria case management, prevention of malaria in pregnancy (MiP), health systems strengthening, data collection and use for service delivery, and other malaria prevention interventions.   

The Regional Technical Malaria Specialist will report to the Regional Malaria Coordinator and coordinate implementation of malaria interventions in the region and district, coordinating with relevant ministry of health officials at regional and district level, PATH technical and operational teams and other implementing partners. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Manage implementation of project activities at regional and district level, collaborating closely with health regional and district teams, administrative authorities and other local partners 

  • Ensure project representation in regional and district health coordination mechanisms. 

  • Ensure the project's participation in regional health directorates and health district coordinating meetings and other key health stakeholders. 

  • Ensure the timeliness and completeness of reports and data from districts and regions in collaboration with the regional MEL. 

  • Ensure closely with the regional administrative assistant that financial reports and supporting documents for district and regional expenditures are available on time and complete. 

  • Support the Regional Malaria coordinator to develop the regional annual workplan, budgets and performance reports of the project 

  • Liaise with all relevant stakeholders, including health regional directorate and districts, universities, civil society and private sector to implement planned activities 

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to the malaria program at regional and district MOH level, ensuring high-quality interventions across all technical areas.  

 

Required skills and experience: 

  • A minimum of five years of experience coordinating technical activities in malaria  

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in public health or medical sciences is required (Superior Health technician, nurses, midwives, health community).  

  • Experience supporting donor funded projects and familiarity with malaria or public health programs. 

  • Proven team leadership and strong management skills, including use of planning and supervision tools, management of program, documentation, budget monitoring and oversight.  

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. 

  • Team-oriented and ability to facilitate productive working relationships inside and out side the organization. 

  • Ability to travel frequently within the country is required.
