Regional AVP Tax, Retirement and Estate Planning Services

Responsibilities:

  • Working in conjunction with select investment advisors and Manulife Guaranteed Wealth Solutions and Investment Sales teams in any of our distribution channels to provide case-specific consultative tax, retirement and estate planning expertise to clients and client professional advisors;

  • Providing tax planning and financial solutions involving wealth/ investment products;

  • Providing educational presentations and seminars to top-tier investment advisors regarding tax, retirement and estate planning opportunities utilizing investment products;

  • Building local relationships with professional advisors through case-specific interaction and more generally through the provision of education regarding investment product application to complex tax, retirement, estate and business planning strategies;

  • Assisting investment advisors and Manulife Guaranteed Wealth Solutions and Investment Sales teams and other Manulife staff in preparing proposals, presentations and customized numerical analysis for affluent/upscale individuals and business clients involving complex estate, tax, retirement and business planning;

  • Providing federal and provincial tax information, legal/accounting information and interpretation to assist the development of sales strategies, programs and concepts in order to create new market opportunities and to increase sales results in affluent/upscale and business markets


Required Qualifications:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Professional degree/designation (CPA, LLB, LLM (Tax))

  • Completion of the CICA In Depth Tax Course or similar course of study

  • Expertise in personal, trusts, estates and corporate tax gained through relevant accounting, legal or financial services experience (5 to 7 year minimum)

  • Strong tax, retirement and estate planning analytical skills and reasoning

  • Ability to apply specialized knowledge to practically implement planning solutions

  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines

  • Strong interpersonal skills, relationship building and management

  • Accuracy and attention to detail Creative/innovative thinking applied to individual client contexts

  • Ability to interpret and communicate technical information to a non-technical audience

  • Team player and positive attitude


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in the Financial Services or Life Insurance Industry Expertise in the taxation of guaranteed wealth solution (e.g., segregated funds) and other investment products

  • TEP designation


Special Conditions: This is a remote role and involves some travel within  Western Canada - British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan territories.
