Job Summary: The primary purpose of the position is to provide short term, solution focused individual and group counseling on commonly occurring life situations, and education on resiliency/wellness topics. The incumbent will serve as a liaison to the Region Sexual Assault Response Coordinator, providing immediate sexual assault response and coordination to allegations of sexual assault.

Qualifications: Resumes must include information which demonstrates experience and knowledge, skills, and ability (KSAs) as they relate to this position. A qualified candidate possess the following: Knowledge of the dynamics of intimate partner violence and sexual assault, knowledge of the military, Department of Defense (DoD), Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) program, and Family Advocacy Program (FAP) guidance along with local, state, and federal laws and military regulations pertaining to victims of intimate partner and sexual assault is preferred. The ability and skill to provide effective trainings and briefings. Independent clinical skills and sound judgment necessary to provide assessment, triage and referral of clients presenting with a risk of harm to themselves or others. The ability to understand, be sensitive to, and have empathy for victims. Incumbent must also have the ability to develop trusting helping relationships and to work effectively with individuals and families from diverse racial, ethnic, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds. The analytical ability to intervene in crisis situations, using sound professional judgment, ethical practice, and common sense. The incumbent must have the ability to work cooperatively with military and civilian medical, social service, law enforcement, and legal personnel on behalf of victims. The ability to perform skillful oral and written communications. The incumbent must have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, be skilled in the use of office software applications to prepare management reports and use software to develop information; able to enter data in required management reports. The incumbent must maintain professional boundaries and ethics to the highest extent in using extreme caution when interacting with sailors while deployed/TDY to remote sites in order to assure that no harm is done to clients due to the inappropriate crossing of professional boundaries.
