Quality Manager
Closing Date: 11th May 2026
Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking.
Hybrid working is available for this role on an informal, non-contractual basis. Typically 2-3 days onsite per week (average).
Package: £45,760 - £72,340 per annum (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience)
A relocation package may be available (terms and conditions apply).

AWE is currently recruiting for a Quality Manager to join our SHEQ function.
Job Purpose:
The main purpose of the role is to Lead the delivery of Quality within the areas they represent. Lead the Quality team in support of development of staff, the expansion of Quality data and improvements in overall Quality performance. Aim to expand the scope, deployment and diversity of the Quality team they represent.
Key Accountabilities:
Planning and managing of Quality resource, within the area they represent and working within an agreed framework.
Provide specialist expertise in the application and deployment of Quality tools and metrics within their represented area.
Advises on the application of the Quality Management System and its application within the workplace.
Provision of technical review and guidance on training and development requirements of the team.
All - maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and be a great team player.
Key Responsibilities:
Leading subject matter expertise in the fields pertinent to their role within Quality.
Lead and develop a technical multi-functional team to resolve problems when required by the area they represent.
Plan and deliver technical assessments using appropriate methodologies and contributing to capability development.
Plan and implement development of tools, techniques and validation methods to ensure Right First-Time methodology.
Plan and participation in improvement activities, and completion of Quality analysis, where appropriate.
Engagement with relevant stakeholders across AWE, the UK and our international partners in pursuit of continuous improvement.
The Company may require you to fulfil any other reasonable duties aligned to your position from time to time in line with business needs.
Who are we looking for?
We do need you to have the following:
Qualifications and/ or professional memberships:
ONC/HNC qualification in a relevant subject and/or a suitable vocational qualification (HND or equivalent) or practical experience in a quality-related role.
Skills
Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems and related standards (e.g. Health & Safety, Environment, Security).
Excellent inter-personal / negotiation / communication skills.
Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
Basic Project Management or in-depth knowledge of specialist subject.
Customer satisfaction and the tools and processes utilised in measuring business performance and delivery.
Good understanding of configuration and change management techniques.
Able to lead team/manage staff within a specialist field and environment.
Understanding of improvement techniques, such as Lean, Six Sigma, RLI, etc.
Earned/Added Value Management.
Computer literate in Microsoft office package.
Experience
A proven track record of influencing and engaging with senior management.
Establishing, implementing and maintaining quality management systems, processes, procedures and other supporting documentation.
Completion of vendor selection monitoring and management processes.
Proven track record of working within the field of aligned specialism.
Auditing from definition/scheduling through to implementation, reporting and close out.
Managing quality resource estimates and budgets and the production of associated business cases.
Facilitating meetings and assisting in defining, recording and expediting actions.
Experienced in the line management of staff if required (direct and/or IP).
Regulatory Requirements
Supports the application and adherence to LC 17 and accreditation to ISO 9001:2015.
Other
DV Security clearance.
Ability to operate in designated work areas.
Willingness to travel, if required for business purposes.
Whilst not to be considered a tick list, we’d like you to have experience in some of the following:
Qualifications and/ or professional memberships:
Degree level qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant subject.
Membership of the Quality Institute (CQI) or alternative/equivalent professional body or working towards it.
Skills
Able to train and coach mixed groups.
Experience
AWE Quality Procedures and Safety Procedures.
AWE Facilities, Processes and Operations (as needed by the role).
Experience of stakeholder management.
Qualified in lean six sigma tools
