Project Manager - Central Sustainability Office - 6 month FTC

We’re looking for a proactive and experienced Project Manager to join our Central Sustainability Office (CSO). Reporting to the Strategy, Planning and Operations Manager, you will lead the delivery of our sustainability risk and governance plan, ensuring alignment with the strategic direction set by the Director of Corporate Affairs, and supporting key workstreams across the business.

This is a dynamic role that blends high-level project management with hands-on delivery support. The project management element of the role is expected to be 3 days per week and a flexible approach will be considered with up to 2 days per week dedicated to detailed work stream planning and delivery. You’ll work closely with the CSO team, the second line of defence, and wider Corporate Affairs stakeholders to keep the plan on track and ensure key outcomes are met.


Key Responsibilities

Planning

  • Support the CSO team to scope and plan individual workstream plans, focusing on key outcomes and critical success factors.
  • Support the CSO team to plan and successfully execute each workstream working group.
  • Create the project structure and discipline to ensure successful delivery.

Project Leadership

  • Lead and motivate the CSO to successfully deliver the sustainability risk and governance plan.
  • Facilitate monthly Steerco meetings and escalate risks appropriately.
  • Track progress against deliverables and call out areas at risk.
  • Organise resources and resolve delivery gaps.
  • Step in to support delivery where team capacity is limited.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong relationships across the business to ensure successful delivery.
  • Liaise with a wide range of stakeholders to maintain alignment and momentum.
  • Prepare Board-level reports and governance materials.

Governance & Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with governance standards and reporting requirements.
  • Provide clear and timely updates to senior stakeholders.
  • Advise, challenge, and offer recommendations to remove blockers and meet deadlines.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years’ project management experience in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Track record of successful delivery under pressure and motivating a team to common goal.
  • Evidence of taking a hands on approach to project management to ensure deliver where required.
  • Ability to manage risks, resolve conflicts, and drive delivery outcomes.
  • Evidence of bringing strategic insight to shape outcomes and to pivot or optimise delivery to meet evolving goals.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience of working with stakeholders from all levels of seniority.
  • Self-motivated, organised, and able to prioritise effectively.
  • Analytical and well-organized, with the ability to present information clearly.
  • Strong understanding of project methodologies (e.g. PRINCE2, Agile).
  • Experience with MI reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Proficiency in project tools (ServiceNow experience highly desirable).

Qualifications

  • PRINCE2, APMP, or equivalent certification (highly desirable).

Desirable Attributes

  • Experience of sustainability and successful delivery of sustainability projects
  • Strong preference given to candidates available to start immediately.
