Project Accountant

You are a Project Accountant responsible for managing accounts receivable, subcontractor records, payroll, equipment time entry, accounts payable, and month-end reporting. Interaction with project teams is important to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of data. Your experience allows you to work with a high attention to detail and learn new processes supporting multiple clients and processes.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Process daily client billings: reconcile field quantities, gather backup, and enter into client systems
  • Manage subcontracts: bill clients, process AP payments, and ensure complete documentation
  • Support Accounts Payable, including resolving items in the AP queue and reviewing cost coding compliance
  • Coordinate accounts receivable: ensure accurate, timely billing and invoice submission
  • Handle seasonal snow/ice billing by matching operator sheets with GPS data and submitting to clients
  • Perform month-end tasks: AR invoice entry, journal entries, accruals, and profitability reporting support
  • Track subcontractor commitments and process progress payments per contract terms
  • Maintain equipment and asset records, including time entry, cost tracking, and reconciliation
  • Prepare regular reports, attend weekly operations meetings, and reconcile daily/weekly LEMs

Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of related project accounting experience within the Construction industry
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and financial applications including large ERP systems (JD Edwards experience would be an asset)
  • A strong skill set within Excel (performing functions such as pivot tables and VLOOKUP)
  • Analytical skills with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, able to multi-task, set priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to details and accuracy in billing summations
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and excellent customer service
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal and organization skills
  • team player who can work both independently and support others

Work Conditions:

  • This is a hybrid role, working in the office 3 days per week and as business needs require.
