Summary 
As a Production Underwriter for a Program Manager, you play a key role in driving revenue growth and building strong client relationships across insureds, retail insurance agents, and wholesale brokers. This position combines proactive sales engagement with exceptional underwriting to promote our programs and expand business opportunities. Responsibilities include quoting renewals and new business, driving follow-ups to close sales, identifying cross-sell opportunities, processing endorsements and payments, and ensuring timely policy binds to support company growth targets.

 

Essential Functions

  • Obtaining renewal and/or underwriting information for accounts

  • Conduct follow-ups on applications and quotes to convert prospects into binds

  • Communicate effectively via phone and email to promote products and provide solutions to clients and brokers

  • Rate accounts and prepare compelling quote proposals with appropriate terms and conditions

  • Checking/reviewing policies for accuracy

  • Binding policies and completing associated paperwork including processing payments

  • Ensuring that items are delivered to clients in a timely manner

  • Quote and process change endorsements while identifying potential upsell opportunities

  • Strengthen and expand relationships with brokers and carriers to increase program growth

  • Participate in marketing meetings to assist in developing sales strategies and promotional materials

  • Provide performance feedback and identify potential enhancements to expand program competitiveness

  • Participate and present at industry related events/conventions.

  • Perform other duties as assigned including projects

Competencies to be expected within 9-12 months

  • Full understanding and application of Underwriting Guidelines to facilitate efficient quoting and closing

  • Proficient knowledge of program applications, marketing strategies, and sales tools

  • Ability to independently rate, quote, bind policies and endorsements, and complete schedules with minimal to no oversight

  • Competency in understanding state-specific requirements

  • Understanding of PPIB procedures, systems, and workflows to drive sales efficiency

Eligibility Qualifications

  • Active Property & Casualty License – Home State

  • 5+ years of prior commercial insurance preferably in a sales or revenue-focused role

  • Fully proficient with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat

Other Information

  • Remote eligible if more than 75 miles from Petaluma location

  • In office required if within 75 miles from Petaluma location with an option to work from home two days a week

  • Permanent remote employees are expected to travel to Petaluma office 4-5 times per year (company paid within approved guideline)

  • Work hours are from 8:30am PST to 5:00pm PST, Monday – Friday, regardless of location

Compensation:

Disclosure required under applicable law in California, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, New Jersey, and Washington states: The expected salary range for this position is $85,000 - $95,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level. HUB International is proud to offer comprehensive benefit and total compensation packages: health/dental/vision/life/disability insurance, FSA, HSA and 401(k) accounts, paid-time-off benefits such as vacation, sick, and personal days, and eligible bonuses, equity and commissions for some positions.
