JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Manager of Cloud and Transmission Firmware leads a design team in making key decisions working with other managers to build and deliver a high-quality embedded firmware and software for Transceivers, Cloud and Transmission Transceiver, Optical Module Box.  You will work with Product Design, Electrical Engineering, Silicon Design, Algorithms, Software, and SW teams to deliver FW to implement all product performance, power, memory, cost, and other system constraints.  The successful candidate needs to be able to review schematics, recommend hardware changes to optimize Firmware and feature implementation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

We are seeking a passionate engineering manager to lead a team responsible for a variety optical transceiver module to enable the rapid pace of developing transceivers for the AI / ML application.   Familiarity with ARM based MCU (ARM Cortex M3, M33, M4) as well as firmware security implementation will be highly advantageous. We are looking for individuals who will:

  • Guide their team in delivery of production-level firmware into embedded processors.
  • Make strategic technical product decisions that positively affect the engineering team’s ability to deliver embedded technologies.
  • Contribute to system architecture alongside firmware/software leads.
  • Lead the firmware team in methodological debug and troubleshooting method to find the real root cause of the failure.
  • In critical times, it is expected that the manager position is able to step in to implement the most difficult code and logic and act as a mentor to the team.
  • Represent the firmware team in multi-functional, multi-national and executive meetings, hence candidate must be fairly proficient is “English”.
  • Provide employees career development opportunities and maintain a frequent, ongoing constructive feedback loop with them.
  • Encourage innovation and technical growth in their employees through hands-on mentoring and support.
  • Determine project prioritization, task assignment, and project scheduling alongside the engineering program manager.
  • Provide annual performance evaluations and determine compensation distribution for their employees.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience and 10+ years’ experience in a lead firmware role and/or 3+ years’ experience in a firmware engineering manager role
  • Understanding of microcontroller, and system architecture
  • Experience with optical transceiver technologies
  • Experience driving technical innovation at multiple layers event and priority management, as well as up and down the organization.
