Product Manager - Financial Reconciliation

Product

Ebury Madrid Office - Hybrid: 4 days in the office, 1 day working from home per week

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Product Manager to own and drive the product strategy and execution for our Reconciliation domain. This role is critical to ensuring our financial integrity and operational efficiency, involving close collaboration with engineering, finance, treasury, and operations teams.

Responsibilities

  • Define the Roadmap for Reconciliation: Develop a deep understanding of Ebury’s internal bank account structures, and liquidity provider flows to identify opportunities for automation and scale.
  • Drive "Active Reconciliation" (Allocation of Funds): Own the logic and algorithms that process credits and debits, transforming poor or rich data messages into precise allocations within client wallets and Liquidity Provider buckets.
  • Oversee "Passive Reconciliation": Build robust crossing-data systems to validate bank charges against transactional volumes and ensure data integrity across disparate internal systems.
  • Manage Application Ledgers: Champion the accuracy and performance of the application ledgers, ensuring every active reconciliation results in precise, real-time movements.
  • Collaborate with Engineering: Define technical requirements for data ingestion pipelines and algorithmic matching engines, prioritizing features based on risk reduction and operational lift.
  • Analyze System Performance: Monitor "match rates," exception volumes, and processing latency to identify areas for algorithmic improvement.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Clearly communicate reconciliation health, ledger integrity, and strategic project status to senior leadership and Finance stakeholders.

What You'll need

  • Proven Product Management Experience: Minimum of 3 years in product management, specifically within FinTech, Banking, or complex financial back office domains.
  • Domain Expertise in Reconciliation: Deep understanding of the "active" vs. "passive" reconciliation dichotomy and experience managing high-volume transaction matching.
  • Ledger Management: Familiarity with Application Ledgers and how transaction logic translates into accounting movements.
  • Strong Analytical Mindset: Ability to analyze large datasets of bank messages (MT940, CAMT, etc.) to identify patterns and edge cases for automated logic.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Experience handling a variety of data scenarios, from "poor detailed" to "rich detailed" messages, and creating creative logic to solve for ambiguity.
  • Technical Literacy: Familiarity with how data flows across systems and an understanding of the impact of "crossing data" for audit and compliance.

Bonus Points

  • Direct experience managing or building Application Ledgers.
  • Knowledge of global payment messaging standards.
