At Lilly, we unite caring with discovery to make life better for people around the world. We are a global healthcare leader headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. Our employees around the world work to discover and bring life-changing medicines to those who need them, improve the understanding and management of disease, and give back to our communities through philanthropy and volunteerism. We give our best effort to our work, and we put people first. We’re looking for people who are determined to make life better for people around the world.
We're looking for a Product Manager to drive the strategy, execution, and adoption of AIOps and Observability capabilities across the enterprise. You'll sit at the intersection of engineering, operations, and business stakeholders orchestrating programs that make our systems smarter, more resilient, and easier to understand. This is a high-visibility role for someone who thrives on turning complex, cross-functional technical initiatives into measurable outcomes.
What You'll Do
Lead end-to-end program management for AIOps and Observability initiatives, from roadmap planning through delivery and adoption. Define and drive the strategic vision for how AI/ML-driven insights, automated remediation, and unified observability platforms reduce operational toil and improve system reliability. Coordinate across platform engineering, SRE, infrastructure, application development, and vendor teams to align priorities and resolve dependencies. Establish and track KPIs such as MTTD, MTTR, alert noise reduction, incident volume, and automation coverage. Manage vendor relationships and tool evaluations for observability platforms (e.g., Datadog, Splunk, Dynatrace, Elastic, Grafana, ServiceNow ITOM) and AIOps solutions. Champion a data-driven, shift-left approach to incident management — moving from reactive firefighting to predictive and self-healing operations. Build and maintain program governance including status reporting, risk management, dependency tracking, and executive communication. Drive cultural adoption of observability-as-code practices, SLO-based alerting, and distributed tracing across engineering teams.
What You Bring
A minimum of 10-12 years of experience in technical project management, with at least 4 years focused on infrastructure, SRE, platform engineering, or ITOps domains. Strong working knowledge of observability pillars (metrics, logs, traces) and the modern monitoring ecosystem. Familiarity with AIOps concepts including anomaly detection, event correlation, noise suppression, root cause analysis, and automated remediation. Experience managing programs that span multiple engineering teams, geographies, and tool ecosystems. Ability to translate deeply technical concepts into clear narratives for executive and non-technical audiences. Proven track record of delivering large-scale platform or operations transformation programs. Strong stakeholder management skills — you know how to build consensus, escalate effectively, and keep momentum across competing priorities.
Hands-on experience with at least one major observability platform (Datadog, Splunk, Dynatrace, Elastic, New Relic, Grafana stack). Exposure to OpenTelemetry, eBPF, or observability pipeline tools (Cribl, Vector). Background in cloud-native environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container orchestration (Kubernetes). Experience with ServiceNow ITOM/ITSM integration patterns. ITIL, PMP, SAFe, or equivalent certifications. Familiarity with FinOps principles as they relate to observability cost optimization.
Why This Role Matters
AIOps and Observability aren't just tooling exercises they're foundational to how a modern enterprise operates, learns, and recovers. You'll shape how thousands of engineers understand the health of their systems, how incidents are detected before customers feel them, and how operational intelligence feeds back into better design. If you want to lead programs that genuinely change how an organization runs, this is it.
