Product Area Lead – WB Lending Tribe - Origination, Advisory, & Digital Channels

At ING we're redefining lending and seeking a strategic and people-focused Product Area Lead for Origination, Advisory & Digital channels in Lending. You'll shape strategy, set priorities, and ensure our products provide customer value, drive AI-first digital transformation and meet compliance and scalability standards.

The Team

You will lead the Origination, Advisory & Digital Channels product area, responsible for the complete origination process in lending and capital markets—covering platforms like Commercial Loan Origination (CLO) Platform, Nexia and Inside Business Portal. This includes for example, client advisory & onboarding, deal structuring & pricing, (ESG) deal assessments, credit approvals and loan documentation.

Your team drives improvements in client experience, speed, accuracy, data quality, and employee efficiency through modern digital (AI first) solutions.

You will be responsible for overseeing five product managers and one product lead (who manages > 10 individual contributors). The teams are operating across Netherlands, Philippines and Ireland.

Roles and responsibilities

As Product Area Lead, you will:

  • Set and Communicate a Compelling Vision Own and articulate the product vision and strategy, aligning teams around a shared purpose that drives innovation and business impact.
  • Lead and Develop High-Performing Teams Build, mentor, and empower product managers and cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Support and Scale Leadership Capacity Partner with the Product Lead to guide and support a growing team of 10+ individual contributors, ensuring clarity of roles, responsibilities, and career development.
  • Drive a Culture of Excellence in Product Offering and Channels Leadership Champion best practices in product offering, client and employee experience focusing on time to yes and operational resilience across the lending domain, setting the tone for responsible and scalable product offering.
  • Enable Platform Thinking and Strategic Scalability Lead the development of platform strategies that support compliance, innovation, and seamless integration across enterprise systems.
  • Model and Embed Leadership Behaviour’s Demonstrate ING’s Orange Code by making things happen, supporting others, and staying proactive—serving as a role model for inclusive and values-driven leadership.
  • Foster Psychological Safety and Inclusion Creates a culture where people feel safe valued and heard
  • Champion Innovation and Operational Excellence Lead with a mindset of continuous improvement, leveraging automation, AI, and agile practices to drive efficiency and future-readiness.

Who are we looking for

  • Extensive product leadership experience in loan origination, platforms and channels, or enterprise technology
  • Proven ability to manage Product Managers and senior Product Leads
  • Strong grasp of lending origination/onboarding, capital markets to credit approvals
  • Experience designing and implementing platform strategies in a complex environment
  • Ability to balance business needs, compliance, and technical constraints
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills across business and IT
