Raytheon Vision System (RVS) is hiring a Sr. Manager, Process Engineering in Goleta, CA.  The Sr. Manager oversees a staff of Process Engineers supporting wafer fabrication, Focal Plane Array assembly and Optical Coatings. RVS is a leader in the design and manufacture of infrared electro optical devices, delivering products for over forty years with an annual revenue of approximately $300M. The candidate will lead innovation, growth and operations excellence in the fabrication of state-of-the-art Infrared Focal Plane Arrays.  

The ideal candidate should have experience leading teams and a strong background and understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes (photolithography, etch, CVD/PVD), precision flip chip bonding (hybridization) and/or optical coating technologies.  The candidate should be passionate about leading people to achieve the highest standards of innovation and quality to provide successful products for customers. A sense of urgency and customer service is essential. 

What You Will Do

  • Ensuring a staff of Process Engineers is effective in supporting a multi-shift factory with multiple production programs and product development projects
  • Leading efforts to ensure safety, increase capacity, improve yield, reduce cycle time and decrease cost. Report on KPI’s at internal Tier meetings and Factory reviews
  • Defining opportunities and providing leadership for impactful process development and working with business and product development leads to align technical roadmaps for continued growth
  • Develop staff to effectively manage process improvement activities including compliance to internal and customer policies regarding Safety, Change Control, Training, Contamination Control and Quality Assurance
  • Lead in the use of Statistical Process Control and Process Capability Analysis to drive the organization to predictable yields
  • Define requirements for acquisition and qualification of new Capital equipment. Work with multiple functions for successful procurement, installation, and implementation.
  • Champion PFMEA and RCCA activities to proactively prevent process excursion and to drive excursions to root cause

Qualifications You Must Have  

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Leadership/Management experience working in engineering, physics, material science, semiconductor, and/or electro-optics environment.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Experience in understanding chemical safety data and ability to follow and communicate safety protocols including the use of Personal Protective Equipment
  • Experience developing and delivering presentations (verbal and/or written) to key stakeholders
  • Computer literacy (Excel, Word, PowerPoint as well as the ability to learn and use engineering and manufacturing software), including experience with MS Office, JMP, database query and data visualization tools
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom work environment and principles (Class 100) wearing full coverall garments
  • Experience with II-VI, III-V or other compound semiconductor processing
  • Optical Coating design and process
  • Experience with Photolithograph, wet etch, metal-lift off, plasma cleaning, e-beam deposition, sputter deposition, CVD and associated semiconductor process equipment
  • Experience and with Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE/ANOVA), and Process Capability Analysis
  • Capital, Program and Project management experience
  • Experience with Infrared Detector Technology and materials

The salary range for this role is 145,600 USD - 276,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
