About the opportunity

Energy Programmes is one of our newest Business Units and has been formed with the vision to support positive change and help shape the future of Nuclear Power. Our embedded teams are delivering support to Hinkley Point C (New build power station in the South West), Sizewell C (located in the South East), helping develop technologies in SMR (Small modular Reactor) capability and working towards building Poland's first Energy Power station.

Working in both client facing and internal roles we are delivering major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. We are driving to deliver safe, high quality and to time solutions by thinking innovatively and working collaboratively.

Amentum are currenting looking to recruit a Process Engineer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the ownership of overall Architect role for assigned systems within the BNI systems scope

  • Technical checking of documents such as deliverables and engineering change notes, ensuring quality and respect of milestones

  • Providing advice and support to system engineers regarding system design, technical issues resolution, calculations applying fluid mechanics and thermodynamic principles, modelling

  • Aiding system production if/when necessary

  • Engaging proactively with all stakeholders around the system to ensure the delivery of a product meeting the requirements and milestones set by all disciplines (layout, civil, contracts, nuclear safety, hazards, electrical, I&C, environment, commissioning, etc.)

  • Open Points resolution and Design Changes specification to the systems: supporting the system engineers putting forward technical solutions, driving optioneering and impact analysis, challenging design and modifications, defining specifications for the changes, then ensuring consistency before release in system documentation

  • Identification of potential challenges to the delivery schedule and taking action to eliminate risks and ensure committed dates are respected

  • Achievement of contract-driven milestones, such as turnkey contracts documents reviews or implementation of specification updates in due time for components lists issuance

  • Representing Systems section in technical forums such as:

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Mechanical or Process Engineering degree or equivalent qualification

  • Working knowledge of process engineering, thermal-hydraulic calculations, fluid mechanics and modelling

  • Experience in systems design for nuclear power plant

  • Knowledge of EPR system design principles, operation and safety rules

  • Knowledge of Instrumentation and Control design

  • Ability to effectively manage own workload in order to produce high quality documents and respect deadlines, ability to work under pressure, ability to anticipate difficulties and able to balance conflicting priorities

  • Ability to productively coach and support others within the team

  • Continuously looking for opportunities to improve quality of engineering studies and the subsequent documentation produced.
