Position Overview

Shaw Industries is seeking a Process Control Technician for D Shift (Rotating 12-Hour Nights) to Lead Team of Operator(s) and Assistant(s) performing tasks needed to meet Safety, Production and Quality goals daily.  Identify root cause, troubleshoot for solutions and take action to correct issues with safety, machines or quality.  Monitor all lines in Needlepunch to maintain product and process specifications. Maintain communication with maintenance and offer technical support as needed.

Essential Duties (Consider job knowledge, job environment, effort, manipulative skills, judgment, safety knowledge, and responsibility):

o   Responsible for safety, operations and quality of all Needlepunch line(s)

o   Lead  & Support Operator(s) and Assistant(s) by working together as a Team

o   Complete Daily Cleaning Checklist and all other Daily Checklists

o   Troubleshoot Needlepunch lines as needed to identify and correct or escalate machine and quality related issues (ie. machine breakdowns, weight, thickness, length, CV outside of control specs, etc…)

  • Escalate machine breakdowns to Maintenance as needed
  • Enter work orders in Work Order system as needed
  • Escalate quality related issues to Supervisor, PE, DM, Technical and QC

o   Utilize data analysis to troubleshoot machine and quality related issues

o   Resolve and respond to infinity quality alarms

o   Verify and sign off on line reading sheets

o   Audit bale quality

o   Review off quality rolls and determine path forward

o   Review and approve assistant and operator patrol sheets and daily cleaning checklist

o   Enter downtime and production information into online dashboard and report out each shift

o   Perform new product trials

o   Ensure operators and assistants are maintaining housekeeping

o   Perform product changes as required

o   Monitor run schedule

o   Make sure there are adequate Needleboards clean and built

o   Enter flashbacks for off quality bales or scrim

o   Understand and be able to perform job duties of operators, assistants, and shippers

Physical Requirements:

o   Must be able to sit, walk, squat, and or stand intermittently for at least a 12-hour shift

o   Must be able to work in temperatures that range from 50 to 110 degrees

o   Must be able to climb ladders

o   Must be able to work in a dusty environment

o   Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Skills Required:

o   Leadership skills

o   Ability to communicate effectively

o   Mechanical Aptitude - Must understand all components on the Needlepunch line and how they function

o   Ability to use a computer (USF2, excel, Google, power point, word)

o   Ability to learn operational systems

o   Ability to analyze data to resolve problems

o   Organizational skills

o   Attention to detail

Safety & Security Requirements:

o   Abide by and enforce all plant safety rules and regulations

o   Follow and comply with All LOTO procedures and policies

o   Know evacuation routes, locations of storm shelters, and gathering places

o   Must comply with all required OSHA and SAFE rules and regulations

o   Refer to specific job hazard analysis

o   Refer to material safety data sheets (MSDS)
