Process Automation Engineer

Job Description & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement automation systems, including HMI and supervisory control systems.

  • Integrate third-party process models and systems into existing infrastructure.

  • Collaborate with other engineers and cross-functional teams, including Operations, Quality Assurance, and Engineering, to identify and implement process improvements.

  • Support software development and data visualization projects.

  • Ensure data quality, security, and availability in collaboration with the IT team.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

  • 3-5 years of experience in process automation including software development.

  • Must be eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in Saskatchewan.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Strong background in process engineering and automation systems.

  • Experience with software architecture and systems integration.

  • Proficiency in software development using programming languages such as Python, R, and .NET.

  • Knowledge of data visualization tools and data science techniques.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Familiarity with EAF-based steelmaking, hot strip rolling and/or tubular production processes.
