Who we are looking for

State Street’s Global Credit Finance (GCF) business is seeking a senior investment and credit leader to serve as Managing Director – Private Credit, CLOs, Investment Advisers & Leveraged Loans. This role is responsible for providing strategic leadership and market‑driven execution across private credit lending, collateralized loan obligations (CLOs), investment adviser lending and leveraged loans.

This role sits at the intersection of business strategy, risk management, and client delivery, ensuring that private credit, CLO, investment adviser, and leveraged loan activities are executed in line with firm risk appetite, regulatory expectations, and internal governance frameworks. The Managing Director will drive portfolio strategy, market engagement, and disciplined investment execution while partnering closely with internal stakeholders to ensure strong risk‑adjusted returns, client alignment, and sustainable growth across strategic asset manager clients.

What you will be responsible for

  • Lead investment strategy, execution, and portfolio oversight across Private Credit, CLOs, Investment Advisers, and Leveraged Loans, aligned with firm‑wide objectives.
  • Ensure effective governance, surveillance, and ongoing oversight of the portfolios portfolio, including monitoring of performance and risk trends ensuring appropriate underwriting standards, monitoring, and reporting
  • Achieve sustainable growth in U.S. and European markets, acting as a strategic partner to CLO and Private Credit managers and Investment Advisers, supporting client engagement and delivery of financing solutions
  • Provide executive oversight of the leveraged loan business, including portfolio positioning, market monitoring, and coordination with firm strategy
  • Partner closely with Enterprise Risk Management, Legal, Compliance, Finance, and Treasury to support effective risk oversight and regulatory alignment.
  • Serve as a senior representative of the business in credit committees and governance forums, ensuring timely escalation and transparency.
  • Provide senior leadership in market discussions, client meetings, and internal forums, providing thought leadership on credit markets and portfolio trends.
  • Oversee balance‑sheet deployment across covered businesses, aligning capital usage with both strategic priorities, client demand and risk appetite.
  • Lead and develop investment and credit professionals, promoting strong risk culture, growth mindset, accountability and fostering strong performance culture and talent development.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • 15 + years of experience in private credit, leveraged loans, and/or structured credit (with demonstrated leadership in investment or portfolio oversight roles) within a regulated financial institution
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust and credibly engage with clients to deliver One State Street outcomes
  • Deep understanding of credit markets and capital structures
  • Strong executive judgment, communication skills, and experience engaging with senior management, regulators  and control functions
  • Proven ability to lead teams, engage credibly across a large organization and a range of stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • CFA® designation or comparable professional credential.
  • Experience across multiple credit products or platforms within a large financial institution.

Salary Range:

$170,000 - $282,500 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
