Job Summary: We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Test Engineering lead to drive and manage our Test Development in Japan for EML and CW laser product lines. This role will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of world-class testing strategies, methodologies, and tools to ensure product excellence. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in driving innovation in testing practices, scaling testing operations for complex products in a fast-paced environment, while driving collaboration and decision making to move actions forward with internal key stakeholders in operations and product R&D.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and release to factory test strategies, processes, and tools that meet the required speed, scale, cost and quality for EML and CW laser production
  • Identify and drive initiatives for test automation, process improvements, test time and cost reductions, and yield improvements
  • Lead troubleshooting and FA activities in coordination with Operation teams and Suppliers so to exceed tester uptime/utilization targets. Collect, consolidate, and analyze information on testing capabilities, issues, and key findings, and prepare a comprehensive report for review and decision-making
  • Define and drive the adoption of best practices across different suppliers and products to drive standardization including agile development, automation, verification, release processes, database, and documentation
  • Manage testing lifecycle from planning and design to execution and release to factory, ensuring test coverage across different products, collaborating closely with R&D and Operations teams.
  • Lead and mentor Test Engineering team members in Japan, and drive and foster zero-defect culture, continuous improvement, and accountability to deliverables.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related technical field (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience in test engineering and test development for laser and/or VCSEL products at the wafer, chip, and CoC levels, as well as for optical transceiver modules
  • Proven track record of developing, validating, and deploying advanced optical test solutions in high-volume manufacturing environments
  • Demonstrated experience leading external suppliers in the design, development, qualification, and release of automated test solutions to production
  • Strong understanding of test solution release process to production such as correlation, GRR, and SPC
  • Knowledge of test development tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and data analytics systems
  • Deep understanding of optical, electrical, and thermal testing principles, instrumentation, and test automation software.
  • Experience with yield analysis, root cause investigation, and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, data analysis and data driven analytical mindset
  • Leadership and project management skills, including the ability to influence, collaborate, and drive decisions effectively across cross-functional teams (R&D, Operations, Quality, and Suppliers).
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex data clearly and persuasively.
  • English language fluency is a plus
