Principal Systems Engineer - System Architect

As a Principal Systems Architect you will guide the development and support of the Survivable Airborne Operations Center program. This includes total life cycle focus for the program from requirements development and architecture creation to system sell off with a focus on complex system designs and leading a team of engineers and subcontracts through architecture definition and support to implementation of technical solutions. This will require high coordination with internal teams, SMEs, program management, customer representatives, and subcontractors. The Systems Architect works closely with the Chief Engineer and the Systems Engineering leadership to drive the technical solution across the program. They ensure the requirements and architecture focus the program on “building the right thing.”

Your duties will also include developing architecture, beginning with logical and working with Integrated Product Teams to define the physical architecture, allocating requirements to architecture elements, deriving requirements to drive details into the model, creating and refining modeling standards and design patterns, distributing model elements to internal and external teams with merge model elements back into the baseline. Additionally, you will coordinate with the customer engineering team, internal team, and suppliers.

• Bachelor of Science degree in System Engineering, Software Engineering, or related discipline and typically 14 or more years of relevant experience

  • Higher education may substitute for relevant experience

• Advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices

• Progressive experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams

• Thorough understanding of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation; systems design, systems integration, technical risk identification and management strategies, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principles

• Experience creating logical and physical architecture models

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $165,010.21 - $226,889.04. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, such as candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
