Northrop Grumman's Corporate Chief Information Digital Office (CIDO) has an immediate opportunity available for a Principal Systems Engineer.  The selected candidate will support the Engineering & Manufacturing Solutions (EMS) Service Line and will report to the EMS SEIT Lead.  They will support programs and activities across the team ensuring strong systems engineering practices. Candidate's who reside near a major Northrop Grumman Facility are preferred (examples: Melbourne, FL, Baltimore, MD, Roy, UT, Huntsville, AL, Rolling Meadows, IL, Colorado Springs, CO, Redondo Beach, CA, San Diego CA). This role has the ability to be hybrid/work from home part of the time.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Implement and manage system requirements.

  • Revises and manages both original and revised specification/interface definition document and expedites documents through approval process.

  • Provides data to risk management (identifies potential risks) and trade study processes.

  • Supports system design, data analyses, interface verification, testing, failure/anomaly resolution and automation efforts.

  • Supports the testing and/or evaluation/validation of one or more components of a system or subsystem analytical model or actual system implementation.

  • Attends and prepares materials for presentation during Preliminary Design Review, Final Design Review, Deployment Readiness Review and Release Review.

  • Supports trade studies, system sensitivity studies, design optimization studies, system performance assessments, system design assessments, mission analysis and timelines and concept of operations development.

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment supporting an Integrated Product Team.

 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Must have, at minimum a Bachelor’s Degree in STEM Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 5 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in a STEM-related field with 3 years of relevant work experience; or a PhD in a related STEM discipline with 1 year of relevant work experience 

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience working in Systems Engineering or in Integration Design

  • Understanding of requirements and basic principles of verification strategies

  • Exposure to and familiarity with MBSE approaches and tools (Cameo, Doors, etc.) and some exposure to MBSE languages (SysML or UML) are required

  • Experience with interface management between system elements and teams

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

 Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Formal education in Systems Engineering principles; a graduate certificate in Systems Engineering is highly preferred

  • Experience with capturing architecture and requirements modeling in MBSE tools

  • Experience with digital thread methodology

  • Experience developing plans and detailed schedules to accomplish an engineering effort

  • Participation in developing formal interfaces between parts of a system

  • Familiarity with IT Infrastructure, Cybersecurity requirements, Business Applications, and IT operations.

 

 

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $171,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
