About the Role:
We are seeking a Tunnel Engineer with solid experience in tunnel design, including structural support and permanent lining systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out detailed design and analysis for tunnels and underground structures
- Support production of design calculations, specifications, and technical reports
- Apply engineering principles to develop practical and efficient design solutions
- Review, verify, and improve design outputs to meet project requirements
- Coordinate with geotechnical, structural, and other disciplines to ensure integrated design
- Support drawing production in line with SJ procedures and standards
- Identify risks, constraints, and opportunities for design improvement
- Assist in the preparation of proposals and tender submissions
- Contribute to project planning, scheduling, and delivery of design packages
- Liaise with clients and stakeholders to support project requirements
- Provide guidance and support to junior team members where required
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Typically 6–10 years of experience in tunnelling or underground infrastructure
- Experience in tunnel design, including structural support and lining systems
- Familiarity with relevant international standards and specifications
- Experience with design tools (e.g., PLAXIS, MIDAS, or similar)
- Strong technical reporting and communication skills
- Ability to manage tasks independently and contribute to project delivery
