Principal Product Designer

Role Overview:

Develops the overall design and specifications for creating and enhancing the experience and functionality of user interfaces for firm products, including websites, software, hardware and tools. Partners with marketing, product management and product development to create design architecture, specifications and requirements for the look, feel and functionality of products. Uses design tools to create storyboards, samples, prototypes and templates for demonstrations and user testing. Reviews proposed product changes or enhancements for compliance and alignment with desired user experience design and satisfaction standards and suggests improvements. Evaluates market and consumer user experience research and results and updates design architecture based on discovered trends and patterns. May perform user design research, including aggregation and analysis of primary and secondary research data, for consumer and user design acceptance and overall user experience.

This is a remote job based in the UK, we are only considering candidates in the UK and are not offering relocation at this time.

About the role:

• Lead end-to-end design for McAfee’s most strategic and AI-driven product experiences

• Define how agentic and assistive systems behave, make decisions, and communicate with users

• Shape UX patterns, frameworks, and systems that scale across the product ecosystem

• Translate customer insights, behavioral data, and telemetry into actionable design direction

• Build prototypes and design explorations that demonstrate emerging AI and automation concepts

• Champion accessibility, privacy, and trust in all AI-driven interactions

• Partner closely with product, engineering, research, and data science to deliver high-quality outcomes

• Present compelling narratives that align teams and influence executive decision-making

• Mentor designers and strengthen the craft, innovation, and culture of the team 

About you:

• A portfolio demonstrating exceptional product design craft across complex, system-level experiences

• Experience designing for AI, automation, or agentic/assistive products (or strong interest and transferable skills)

• Ability to bring clarity and direction to ambiguous, high-impact problem spaces 

• Strength in systems thinking—designing for scalability, consistency, and adaptability 

• Comfort with research, experimentation, and using insights to guide decisions

• Deep empathy for users and expertise in building transparent, trustworthy experiences

• Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills

• Experience mentoring designers and elevating team capabilities

• Commitment to inclusive, accessible, and privacy-respecting design
