Preventative Advisor, Health, Safety and Wellbeing - 12month FTC

We are currently recruiting for a Preventative Advisor to focus on Health, Safety and Wellbeing for the Netherlands, based in our Amsterdam office. During this 12month Fixed Term Contract, you will be reporting into the COO, working closely with local Loss Prevention and Human Resources departments.

The role will ensure adherence to Dutch Health and Safety Legislation (Arbowet), lead preventive initiatives to reduce absenteeism and incidents, and support the organization in building a culture of well-being and safety.

What you will be responsible for: 
 

Health & Safety 

• Lead and manage all aspects of workplace health, safety, and environment (HSE) compliance. 

• Conduct and maintain the Risk Inventory & Evaluation (RI&E) and ensure follow-up on improvement actions. 

• Collaborate with the Occupational Health Service (Arbodienst) and external safety experts. 

• Investigate workplace incidents and propose corrective and preventive actions. 

• Conduct regular workplace inspections and audits. 

• Develop and update safety policies, procedures, and emergency plans. 

• Ensure compliance with fire safety, ergonomics, and hygiene standards. 
   

Preventive Advisor (Preventieadviseur) Responsibilities 

• Act as the organization’s official Preventive Advisor as required under Dutch law. 

• Advise management and employees on health, safety, and well-being topics. 

• Support managers in preventing and managing absenteeism and promoting employee well-being. 

• Liaise with the Works Council (Ondernemingsraad) and internal stakeholders on preventive and safety matters. 

• Provide training and awareness sessions on safe and healthy working practices. 
   

Employee Well-being & Case Support 

• Leading sickness management and return-to-work processes. 

• Identify trends, propose and implement preventive initiatives to reduce ad-hoc sickness. 

• Partner with HR to promote a culture of health, engagement, and accountability. 

Skills, Experience and Attributes:  

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, HR, or related field. 

• Certified Preventive Advisor (Preventieadviseur, Level 2 or 3) preferred. 

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Health & Safety or similar role, ideally in retail, logistics, or multi-site environments. 

• Experience with Dutch health and safety regulations (Arbowet, RI&E). 

• Strong knowledge of Dutch employment and occupational health legislation. 

• Excellent communication and advisory skills; able to influence at all levels. 

• Analytical, proactive, and hands-on mindset. 

• Ability to coach and train managers and employees on safety and well-being topics. 

• Applicants must be fluent in Dutch and English (spoken and written).
