The Portfolio Analyst, Home Financing is responsible for providing analytical support and insights to help manage and optimize the Home Financing portfolio. This role focuses on credit analytics, portfolio performance monitoring, forecasting, and data-driven insights to support effective risk management and profitability across home financing products. The successful candidate will analyze large datasets, monitor portfolio trends, and develop actionable insights to inform business, risk, and credit decisions within the Home Financing line of business.

Job Descriptions

Portfolio Strategy & Analytics

  • Monitor and analyze portfolio performance, including balances, delinquency, loss trends, and profitability metrics.
  • Develop and maintain reporting and dashboards to track key credit and portfolio risk indicators, including early-warning signals.
  • Analyze portfolio trends and underlying drivers to identify emerging risks, opportunities, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Support forecasting and scenario analysis related to credit performance, balance growth, and future risk outcomes.
  • Conduct deep‑dive analyses to support underwriting, renewal, and account‑management decisioning.
  • Provide data‑driven recommendations to improve credit performance, operational efficiency, and customer outcomes.

Data & Analytical Tools

  • Use SAS, SQL, Power BI, and other analytical tools to extract, manipulate, and analyze large datasets.
  • Translate complex analytical findings into clear, concise insights for business and risk stakeholders.
  • Support the development and maintenance of standardized reporting, metrics, and analytical frameworks.

  • Monitor and report on Home Financing portfolio performance using advanced analytics and reporting.
  • Analyze credit and portfolio trends and provide actionable insights to support business and risk decision-making.
  • Develop forecasts, scenarios, and performance analytics to assess portfolio risk and sustainability.
  • Produce high‑quality dashboards, reports, and presentations for senior stakeholders.
  • Ensure analytical outputs support regulatory, governance, and risk‑management requirements.

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical experience supporting home financing or consumer lending portfolios.
  • University degree in business, finance, economics, statistics, mathematics, or data science (or equivalent experience).
  • Proficiency in SAS and/or SQL, and Power BI (or equivalent analytics tools).
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to operate effectively in both business and technical environments.
  • Strong ownership mindset, time management skills, and ability to deliver high‑quality outputs within deadlines.
  • Self‑starter with a proactive approach to analytical improvement and efficiency enhancement.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

This role operates within normal office conditions with minimal exposure to health risks.

Salary:

$56,000.00 - $103,500.00

Salaried

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
