Platform Engineer

 

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to support, maintain, and enhance enterprise application platforms across Unix/Linux systems, databases, middleware, and container platforms. The role focuses on platform stability, performance, availability, and operational excellence in mission-critical environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide L2/L3 platform support for enterprise systems across Unix, Linux, and Solaris environments

• Install, configure, and support middleware platforms including WebSphere MQ and WebLogic

• Support and maintain database platforms (Oracle, DB2, SQL, MongoDB)

• Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity planning

• Manage batch processing, job execution, and platform health checks

• Support containerized platforms using OpenShift

• Handle incident, problem, and change management activities in line with ITIL processes

• Troubleshoot complex platform and integration issues across systems

• Support patching, upgrades, and platform lifecycle activities

• Prepare and maintain technical documentation and operational runbooks

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of experience in Platform / System Engineering or Production Support

• Strong hands-on experience with Unix, Linux, Solaris, or Tandem Systems

• Experience supporting WebSphere MQ and WebLogic in enterprise environments

• Solid knowledge of databases: Oracle, DB2, SQL, MongoDB

• Experience with container platforms, preferably OpenShift

• Strong troubleshooting skills in multi-tier application environments

• Experience working in L2/L3 support and production operations

• Familiarity with ITIL processes and enterprise IT operations

Nice to Have

• Experience in banking or regulated environments

• Exposure to automation or scripting

• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS / Azure)

• Experience with DevOps or SRE practices
