SUMMARY
This is a 10-Week Project-Based Internship, where you’ll gain hands-on experience to a contract logistics operation and work cross-functionally within local departments, branches, and other JAS offices across the US.As an operations intern you will gain practical insight into how shipments and supporting data are planned, executed, managed, and monitored across multiple operational and management levels.
This opportunity includes regular engagement with a wide array of stakeholders and senior leadership, to help foster a comprehensive understanding of global logistics operations and customer-centric supply chain solutions. Interns will receive exposure and job shadowing in various JAS Departments within Contract Logistics including, but not limited to: Warehousing, technology, and invoicing. Providing a holistic understanding of how Contract Logistics integrates transportation, warehousing and value-added services.
Through this experience, interns will develop a strong foundation in the contract logistics industry while gaining valuable insights into the decision-making processes and strategic approaches of a global supply chain leader.

PROJECT SCOPE:
Oversee and coordinate the unloading and segregation of over 120 containers. Scanning all cartons into the WMS, and preparing stock for outbound shipments. Responsible for coordinate with multiple distribution carriers (small package, FTL, white glove) and maintain/improving overall accuracy of shipments. Daily communication with vendors (labor & lumper service); Time studies on labor, productivity, efficiencies & enhancements - processes and documentation throughout the process. What can they do from an automation standpoint - system, processes, designs -be creative in approach. How can we minimize cost year over year.

This internship is designed to provide you with a comprehensive view of the Contract Logistics industry, with all work conducted in a professional warehouse and office environment. You’ll engage in learning, shadowing, and project work that culminates in a capstone presentation to JAS leadership.

Essential Functions:
Work directly within a contract logistics site or corporate operations team to gain an in-depth understanding of JAS’s integrated logistics solutions which include warehousing, distribution, value-added services, and transportation coordination.
Learn and actively perform tasks using Softeon, WMS, and/or CargoWise (C1), supporting inventory visibility, order fulfillment, transportation coordination, and customer reporting within a contract logistics framework.
Shadow and collaborate with key JAS departments, including warehousing, sales, IT, and billing and invoicing to gain a holistic view of end-to-end supply chain solutions and operations.
Support business process management initiatives by documenting workflows, reviewing standard operating procedures (SOPs), and assisting with alignment to customer contracts, service level agreements (SLAs), and internal KPIs.
Assist in establishing metrics, conducting analysis, and generating reports to monitor performance and identify areas for improvement.
Attend operations and management meetings with senior leaders to gain insight into how leaders review performance, solve problems, and make strategic decisions in the contract logistics industry.
Help create simple reports and dashboards that summarize operational performance and highlight opportunities for improvement.
Gain exposure to related functions such as ISO standards, Sustainability initiatives, IT, Finance, and Sales to understand how they support day-to-day logistics operations.
Research, analyze, and help propose innovative solutions to improve efficiency, with an emphasis on collaboration and alignment across teams.
Lead a focused project aimed at improving business processes, enhancing operational efficiency, or improving data accuracy.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Enrolled as a Junior or Senior in college with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Preferred fields of study: Supply Chain Management, International Business, Business Administration, Transportation & Logistics Management, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or Industrial Engineering
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with data analytics tools is a plus.
Strong analytical, organizational, and multitasking skills.
Excellent verbal, written, and presentation abilities.
Self-motivated and capable of working both independently and in a team environment.
Fluent in English, with the ability to evaluate and resolve problems effectively.
ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work is generally performed in a warehouse environment around machinery and moving parts.
Warehouse duties may be subject to varying temperatures and high levels of dust and noise.
This role requires individuals to talk, hear, use hands, stand, walk, sit, and see.
Ability to lift, lower, and maneuver packages between 20 and 70 lbs.
