Position Overview:

Freddie Mac’s Single-Family Portfolio and Servicing (SFPS) division is seeking an Operational Risk Manager within the Single-Family Portfolio & Servicing (SFPS) Operational Risk Management (ORM) team. This individual will be an advocate and champion of the risk framework and policy - driving awareness, adoption and execution in the assigned business area and across the division. The Operational Risk Manager is a thought leader who develops and implements solutions to ensure material risks are proactively identified, assessed, documented and appropriately responded to.

ORM supports the SFPS Division to ensure compliance with corporate operational risk policies and standards and by supporting department leadership in the drive and execution of strategy and objectives to help ensure efficient and effective execution of first line of defense (1LOD) operational risk processes and controls.

Your Impact: 

  • Collaborate with leadership to drive effective risk management in a collaborative environment.
  • Act as a governance, risk, and control expert, guiding risk management practices.
  • Facilitate risk management practices. Including but not limited to identification, assessment, monitoring, mitigation, and reporting.
  • Conduct annual and quarterly assessments to evaluate and identify operational and emerging risks.
  • Manage the risks and controls framework, ensuring compliance and addressing gaps.
  • Build partnerships with stakeholders to influence strong risk management outcomes, including Enterprise Business Risk & Control Office (EBRCO), Internal Audit, Enterprise Risk, and SOX/Finance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience with 8+ years in relevant fields, including 5+ years in operational risk, compliance, or audit.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CIA, CFE, CISA, PMP, CISSP) are preferred but not required.
  • Experience in the financial services or mortgage industry is desirable.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for conveying complex topics clearly.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain high quality and accuracy standards while independently managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $125,000 - $187,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
