About the Job – Your Role
Warner Creek Correctional Facility is seeking an experienced Office Specialist 2 to provide comprehensive clerical and administrative support to the Business Office, Food Services, Superintendent’s Office, and Mailroom within the Oregon Department of Corrections. Responsibilities include preparing and distributing correspondence and reports; managing calendars, meetings, and travel; maintaining records and filing systems; processing purchase orders and tracking financial transactions; coordinating meetings and events; providing reception and customer service; supporting video/teleconferencing; and ensuring accurate, timely communication across departments. This position also supports records retention compliance, maintains office supplies and controlled inventories, follows safety and security procedures, and provides backup coverage for mailroom and other administrative functions.
This position is represented by American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). This position may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR
An associate degree in any field; OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Working Conditions
Work is performed in a prison that houses minimum security AICs. The AICs have the potential of becoming angry, hostile, abusive and aggressive, increasing the risk of employees of physical injury, death, and or being taken hostage. There is an inherited responsibility to produce assistance through recall and of reassignment during inmate unrest and other emergency situations occurring at the facility.

The salary range listed above is for non-PERS qualifying applicants. PERS qualifying applicants may be eligible for an adjusted range to reflect an additional 6.95%.

The successful candidate for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, there may be some felony convictions that could disqualify you for this position.
