Basic Requirements: Specialized Experience (for positions at GS-5 and above): Experience related to the operation or management of a museum or similar collection of valuable objects. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include collections management, registration, cataloging, research, preservation, restoration, or conservation of collections of museum material, or other experience related to the position to be filled. Most positions require a particular subject-matter specialization, e.g., aeronautics, anthropology, art, geology, history, natural science, technology, biology, or zoology. Education requirements: 2 full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education or master's or equivalent graduate degree related to the position. For positions at GS-4 and above, related course work is required. Related fields of study include art, history, museum studies, scientific subjects, or other courses related to the position to be filled. Applicant must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have specialized experience sufficient to demonstrate that you have acquired all the competencies necessary to perform at a level equivalent in difficulty, responsibility, and complexity to the next lower grade GS 07 in the Federal service and are prepared to take on greater responsibility. Specialized experience for this position includes: Managed the day-to-day technical operations of a museum Applied the fundamental principles of museum practices and project management Assisted senior staff responsible for physical care of historical artifacts Assisted with the fabrication and installation of exhibits Assisted in the implementation of established security procedures Specifically you will be evaluated on the following competencies: Acquisition Strategy: Knowledge of the principles and methods for developing an integrated acquisition management plan that describes the business, technical, and support strategies, including the relationship between the acquisition phases, work efforts, and key program events (for example, decision points, contract awards, test activities). Clerical: Knowledge of filing, typing, entering data, maintaining records, taking shorthand, and using and completing forms. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Other than Blueprint Reading): Element 75-B: Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Other Than Blueprint Reading)
