What is the opportunity?

As a Multi-Asset Portfolio Analyst with RBC Wealth Management, you will aid in the maintenance, development, and promotion of the RBC Portfolio Blueprint. Our Portfolio Blueprint is RBC Wealth Management’s multi-asset portfolio framework for coordinated investment advice and solutions. This full spectrum investment advice and solution provided to our financial advisors includes strategic asset allocation, active asset allocation, investment policy, investment selection, and discretionary portfolios. 

This role will be part of our Portfolio Advisory Group. The group’s mandate enables our financial advisors to consistently deliver investment advice and solutions to their clients with the highest level of competency and confidence while utilizing a wide range of securities. As a member of the team, you will contribute to the U.S. Investment Committee as well as work in conjunction with analysts in equity, fixed income, and other strategies. 

What will you do?

  • Assist the Multi-Asset Portfolio Team with broad general support of the suite of multi-asset discretionary portfolios
  • Own the design, development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of detailed portfolio analytic/risk reports for investment committees. Reports should detail performance and risk attribution that aid investment committee members in making data-driven decisions consistent with each portfolio’s risk-budget and/or mandate
  • Execute on improvements to efficiency and effectiveness of our operating/reporting/data gathering processes by recommending new technologies and methodologies
  • Collaborate with Multi-Asset Portfolio Strategists to continually strategize on our risk framework and improve the overall strategy design and infrastructure  
  • Collaborate with Multi-Asset Portfolio Associates to ensure consistent and timely distribution of accurate investment committee reports. This includes highlighting relevant observations for committee members
  • Aid in the coordination and participate in investment committee and associated meetings
  • Partner with colleagues to create data-driven models that aid in the identification of market opportunities
  • Aid in the trading workflow process to ensure effective communication of duties and seamless execution
  • Gather, organize, and assess data as part of monitoring/evaluating investment decisions

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Undergraduate degree, preferably with a concentration in finance, economics, statistics and/or mathematics
  • 3+ years or related investments experience
  • Broad knowledge of global economy, capital markets, and wealth management industry
  • Knowledge of investment management concepts such as risk measurement and reporting, performance attribution, asset allocation, and portfolio construction
  • CFA charter or pursuing
  • Series 7 & 66 licensed or ability to obtain, as requested
  • Experience providing verbal and written communications on investment related topics

Nice-to-have

  • Knowledge of key analytical tools – FactSet, Tableau, etc.
  • Knowledge of or desire to learn Python and SQL. A successful candidate will enjoy the opportunity to learn these skills and apply that knowledge to enhance existing workflows 
  • Knowledge of AI tools and proactive in exploring and implementing AI-driven solutions to enhance productivity and workflow

The expected salary range for this particular position is $70,000-$130,000, depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs.

You have the potential to earn more through RBC’s discretionary variable compensation program which gives you an opportunity to increase your total compensation, provided the business meets its performance targets and you meet your individual goals.
