Moneycare is The Salvation Army’s (Salvos) national financial counselling and financial capability program which seeks to alleviate hardship and build long term resilience. About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Team Leader to oversee Moneycare’s Sydney service, leading and supporting a team to deliver high-quality financial counselling with professionalism and compassion. The role ensures compliance with Salvation Army, Moneycare and regulatory standards while fostering continual improvement.
Working with state and national management, you will drive service efficiency, support funding submissions and establish new programs. Alongside leadership responsibilities, you will maintain a caseload to meet accreditation requirements, providing holistic counselling that addresses broader life issues. This position requires autonomy in managing administration, scheduling and reporting, while remaining aligned with TSA values and mission.
This full time, permanent role reporting to the State Manager based in Sydney, NSW. Salary is based on SCHADS Level 6.
How you will make an impact
Team Leadership: Drive operational excellence, foster collaboration, and champion continual improvement.
Service Development: Support funding applications and establish new services when funding is secured.
Casework Supervision: Ensure effective performance and wellbeing of team members.
Training & Support: Mentor and empower staff to meet professional standards and deliver high-quality client services.
Holistic Counselling: Maintain a caseload and provide client-centred financial counselling.
Administration & Reporting: Manage scheduling, reporting, and compliance requirements.
What you will bring
Diploma of Financial Counselling
Experience in welfare, community services, counselling, or business/finance
Demonstrated success in leading teams within a community service environment
Strong communication skills with the ability to inspire confidence in clients and staff
Commitment to professional standards, TSA mission, and values
Willingness to travel for training and development activities
Relevant State Working with children check
