Northrop Grumman is seeking a qualified Mechanical Engineer to join our Defense Systems team supporting the U.S. Air Force Sentinel program. The applicant will be responsible for the design, development, production, and deployment of launch equipment hardware and systems for each weapons system facility. Working in a dynamic, people-focused environment, the engineer will collaborate closely with users, customers, and fellow engineers to deliver high performance mechanical solutions for the Sentinel program.

Key Responsibilities:

• Primary role is to serve as a mechanical designer for mechanical systems (mechanisms) design on a major Northrop Grumman Defense Systems program

• Research, plan, design, and develop mechanical/aerospace products for aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicles, missiles, ground vehicles and associated ground and test equipment

• Develop CAD models and 3D model based drawings using Siemens NX and Team Center

• Verify specifications and designs through modeling and simulation, test data processing, and performance analysis

• Support all phases of the systems lifecycle including design, drawings, fabrication, test, installation, operation and maintenance

• Design of components/systems, and preliminary/sizing analysis for both stress and dynamic analysis of aerospace structures.

• Preparation and presentation of reports, briefings, design documents (drawings and specifications) and interface with customers.

Basic Qualifications:

Mechanical Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and with 2 years of experience; or Master's degree with 0 years of experience

• Principal Mechanical Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and with 5 years or experience; or Master's degree with 3 years of experience

Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need

• 2+ years of experience with CAD modeling (Siemens NX preferred)

• 2+ Experience in mechanical engineering that includes a background in mechanical systems (mechanisms preferred)

• Familiar with common engineering standards (ISO, ASME, Mil Spec, NAS, etc.)

• Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision, function in a dynamic environment, and be flexible to changing direction

• Proficient written and verbal communication skills when conveying technical content

• Knowledge of GD&T, materials selection, and manufacturing processes

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Team Center (CPLM) and the Product Definition Package (PDP) release process

• Experience with the ASME Y14.X suite of engineering drawing standards

• Experience with requirements management and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) principles

• Experience with ICBMs or launch equipment systems

• Experience performing dynamic and static analysis (NX Motion or ANSYS preferred)

• Proficiency in DOORS, CAMEO, Jira and Confluence

Primary Level Salary Range: $75,800.00 - $113,800.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $94,200.00 - $141,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
