Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Material Review Board Engineer to support our Engineering Support to Operations (ESTO) - Hot Section Module Center (HSMC). This is a highly visible and excellent career opportunity that will provide exposure across engineering quality operations organizations.  

What You Will Do:

  • Develop a clear understanding of P&W Material Review Board (MRB) procedures to ensure adherence and process compliance.
  • Review and provide technical disposition of hardware non-conformances produced internally at P&W US and international supplier manufacturing locations.
  • Ensure product integrity and compliance through technical decision ownership.
  • Maintain P&W quality image to all customers, through evaluation, investigation, analysis, and rework/repair process development.
  • Support all aspects of the manufacturing process to ensure safety, durability, and quality while providing customer support through the entire process to ensure product quality.
  • Provide credible balance between Manufacturing capabilities and Engineering requirements.
  • Deliver unquestionable ethical dedication to safety. 
  • Travel Requirements: 15% (Domestic).

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 5 years of Design, Structure, Manufacturing, or Quality Engineering in Aerospace compression systems or hot section hardware experience, or an Advanced ABET accredited degree in Engineering and 3 years of Design, Structure, Manufacturing, or Quality Engineering in Aerospace compression systems or hot section hardware experience.
  • U.S. Citizen - U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Must obtain Material Review Engineer (MRE) certification through mentoring via OJT (On-the-Job Training) with a certified MRE who will mentor and train you, along with completion of MRB classroom training. Certification will then be approved by the MRE mentor, the Engineering Director, the Design Chief, and the MRB Discipline Chief. Upon certification, you will be working directly with hardware in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • 7 years of aerospace Design or Structural experience.
  • Demonstrated skill in leading and managing a technical team.
  • Experience in using process control/ six-sigma and or lean manufacturing tools.
  • Strong understanding of production process and ability to make appropriate risk-based decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently or in a collaborative team environment.

  • Engineering Support to Operations (ESTO): ESTO provides dedicated support by eliminating quality notifications, escapes, works stops and enabling producibility and delivery of legacy and new parts, assemblies, modules, and engines. ESTO covers all engine programs and part families, enabling engine deliveries, first piece reviews, first article inspections, analysis automation, process certification. ESTO also supports the Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) initiative in Operations. Technical disciplines in ESTO include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, Product Definition, and Manufacturing Engineering.

  • Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
