An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Quality Engineer to join our team in Bristol.

BTF Turbines facility manufactures high Quality turbine casting components for use in civil and defence engine applications. As Quality Engineer it will be your responsibility to provide support to the Quality function to maintain high levels of compliance and to assist with embedding good practice and behaviours in our drive toward zero defects. Covering both the Foundry and Machine shop, the Quality Engineer will interact with the Operations and support teams to provide day to day Quality support and to ensure Quality objectives are delivered. The role will be day shift reporting to the Quality Manager, with a requirement to be flexible as the job requires. Although the role is Bristol based, travel to suppliers, customers and other Rolls-Royce sites may be required on certain occasions. The role is varied and interesting covering aspects of auditing, compliance, training, problem solving with high levels of interaction with other departments, external auditory bodies, customers and suppliers. The role demands aspects of coaching, influencing, facilitating and coordinating in order to best utilise human resources to deliver results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting Operations team and other support functions with day-to-day Quality support.
  • Supporting Internal and External Audits and subsequent audit activities.
  • Leading problem-solving activity.
  • Supporting improvement projects and training initiatives.
  • Identifying, reporting, and tackling issues of non-compliance to agreed standards.
  • Addressing containment of known Quality issues in a timely manner and identifying failure modes and tackling root cause.
  • Maintaining training records.
  • Provide coaching and support in aspects of RRPS, Global Procedures, Standards and Best Practices.
  • Understanding and reporting site Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).

Required Skills and Experience

  • A high level of literacy and numeracy. Will need to collect, interpret and report data in a clear and concise manner.
  • An intermediate/high level of computer literacy and experience using Microsoft office applications (e.g. Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook). Will need to use a variety of software applications and packages such as SAP in addition to MS office.
  • A good communicator. Must be able to communicate with wider Turbines team in an effective manner. A person who is happy to lead conversations, meetings and presentations.
  • Ability to work using own initiative as is necessary within a small busy department, make priority work decisions and able to resolve problems as necessary.
  • Ability to cope with multiple tasks and requests in a calm and organised manner.
  • Proactive and positive outlook to work, able to cope with disruptions and changes to work plans.
  • A person from a manufacturing background who understands how production facilities operate and the importance of Quality practices embedded into process.
  • Strong customer focus. Zero Defect expectation toward products and services.
  • Leads by example in consistently demonstrating good practice and compliance in aspects of Safety and Quality.
