Our Opportunity

Our Project Engineering function are currently looking for a Senior Integration, Verification, Validation & Qualification (IVVQ) Engineer.

As a Senior IVVQ Engineer, you are responsible for all aspects of system integration and system testing for solutions that meet the needs of our clients and users within the rail domain. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, develop integration and testing tools and approaches to implement solutions and ensure the scalability, reliability, and performance of our products and solutions.

This is a hybrid role working a minimum of three days per week from our site in Bradford on Avon and may involve some travel to our other sites. Flexibility to work on-site during commissioning phases is required.

Key Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities will include, but are not be limited to:

  • Work collaboratively with other engineering disciplines and other stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of the project.
  • Lead the identification and closure of site defects, technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and other engineering issues.
  • Understand and lead the project delivery processes, methodologies, and use the defined tools as set out in the GTS Management System and the project specific IVVQ Management Plans and Engineering Management Plans.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest technologies, tools, and trends in IVVQ development
  • Support Work Package Managers with timely provision of status, accurate measurement of progress and forecasting of remaining work and by Identifying change, variation, risk and opportunity to the work package manager wherever the scope of works is impacted. Where appointed act as WPM and lead the IVVQ team operationally.
  • Interface with the client to gain approval of test specifications and to host acceptance testing activities.
  • Write and/or approve test plans, test strategy documents and test specifications.
  • Execute test specifications (according to test plan and project schedule), record and/or approve results of test execution.
  • Raise/investigate/verify defects.
  • Maintain agreed quality target/standards.
  • Identify and implement verification methods (IADT).

Technical Skills and Experience

  • Extensive experience in systems development, with a deep understanding of IVVQ principles and methodologies.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL database querying and data analysis
  • Experience with networking technologies, including Cisco and Netgear switches; Windows and Linux network configuration, troubleshooting, and design review
  • Software testing experience, including test automation
  • Python scripting for automation and system tasks
  • Understanding of systems architecture and integration principles
  • Hands-on experience with Linux system configuration (CentOS, RHEL 6, Ubuntu) and bash scripting
  • Familiarity with IBM DOORS for requirements management
  • Practical knowledge of Agile methodologies and tools such as JIRA
  • Awareness of DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines
  • Proven experience in testing and integrating complex systems applications
  • Solid understanding of systems architecture and design patterns.
  • Varied experience working in an engineering environment and understanding of engineering delivery methodologies.
  • Be able to define and manage configuration control
  • Proven ability to define, develop and implement IVVQ tools.
  • Experience of SW tools and deployments

Additional qualifications

  • Drivers Licence – Preferred
  • IRSE Electronics Systems Licence – Nice to have

  • Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, motivation and inter-personal skills
  • Ability to build and sustain strong working relationships at all levels
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, mentor and coach a diverse team
  • Demonstrable experience in achieving buy-in from strong technical stakeholders
  • Excellent problem-solving ability, trade-off skills and attention to detail.

We aim to complete a two-stage interview process, with at least one of these held in person at our Bradford on Avon office. The interviews will focus on technical and behavioural competencies.
