As we continue to expand our presence in Canada, we are seeking an entrepreneurial, market-facing leader to join our Calgary office as a Managing Director within our Strategy & Communications business.

This is a pivotal leadership role with significant opportunity to shape and grow Teneo’s Western Canada platform.

 

Description:

 As a Managing Director, you will be a senior leader responsible for:

  • Driving revenue growth
  • Deepening executive-level client relationships
  • Leading complex, high-impact engagements
  • Building and mentoring high-performing teams
  • Expanding Teneo’s market position in Calgary and across Western Canada

You will serve as a trusted advisor to CEOs, boards, and senior executives – guiding them through moments that define their organizations, including transactions, crises, reputational challenges, stakeholder engagement, and strategic transformation.

The role is based in Calgary with a requirement of at least three days a week in the office.  

                                                              

Responsibilities:

Client Leadership & Advisory

  • Serve as a senior strategic advisor to C-suite and board-level clients
  • Lead integrated communications and stakeholder strategies across corporate positioning, investor relations, transactions, crisis and issues management
  • Anticipate emerging risks and opportunities, providing proactive counsel
  • Oversee and direct complex, multi-workstream client engagements

Business Development & Market Growth

  • Originate and secure new business opportunities in Calgary and Western Canada
  • Leverage an established network of corporate leaders, investors, media, and policymakers
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities across Teneo’s global service lines
  • Contribute to local and national growth strategy

Team Leadership & Talent Development

  • Lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams
  • Serve as a Talent Manager, supporting career development and performance management
  • Attract and recruit top-tier talent
  • Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and collaboration

Firm Leadership

  • Contribute to shaping Teneo Canada’s strategic direction
  • Strengthen Teneo’s brand and visibility in the Calgary market
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Canada and globally to deliver integrated solutions

 

Qualifications:

  • 14+ years of experience in corporate communications, public affairs, investor relations, management consulting, or a related advisory field
  • Proven experience advising senior executives and boards
  • Demonstrated success in business development and revenue generation
  • Strong network within Calgary and Western Canada’s business community (energy, financial services, infrastructure, industrials, or related sectors preferred)
  • Experience leading large, complex client engagements
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, judgment, and decision-making capabilities
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree considered an asset
  • Able to work from the office a minimum of three days per week
