Role Summary
Reporting to the Director, Customer Success and Innovation, as the Manager of Technology Strategy and Innovation, your primary accountability is to support the relationship between Data & Technology (“D&T”) and Capital Markets. You will be responsible for fostering strong relationships, supporting the technology business partner function, and aligning technology with business objectives.
You will leverage your deep understanding of financial products and current technology landscape to provide advisory support to the clients. Using your expertise in SQL and Python, you will work together with internal D&T prototype solutions and analyze data, You will also champion the adoption of AI tools, helping the business understand how these technologies can drive alpha and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Business Partnering & Front Office Liaison
Facilitate Steering Committees (SteerCos): Lead executive-level meetings with business and technology stakeholders to align on roadmaps, manage expectations, and report on program health.
Anticipate the technology implications of investment strategies (e.g., entering new asset classes) and proactively propose architectural solutions.
Bridge the gap between business agility and IT governance, ensuring rapid delivery without compromising stability or compliance.
Technical Execution & Prototyping
Hands-on Analysis: Utilize expert-level SQL and Python skills to query data, validate business logic, and build rapid prototypes/POCs before handing off to core engineering teams.
Analyze complex datasets to support investment decision-making and validate the integrity of data flowing through front-office systems.
Partner with developers to ensure the final build matches the specific nuance of the requirements gathered from the desk.
Innovation & AI Strategy
Serve as the subject matter expert on AI/ML models within the business context; explain how models work, their limitations, and their potential application in trading and analytics.
Identify high-value use cases for Generative AI and Predictive Modeling to automate manual workflows or generate investment insights.
Proactively engage with business leaders to identify innovative opportunities for technology to drive business growth and assist with the development of business-specific technology strategy maps that drive strategic direction.
Develop and maintain a technology roadmap that supports business objectives
Stay current on FinTech trends and emerging Capital Markets technologies to keep the firm at the competitive edge.
Leadership & People Management
Fostering a culture of technical excellence and deep domain knowledge.
Resolve nebulous business challenges by applying structure, logic, and data-driven frameworks.
Drive a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, ensuring the team delivers tangible value to the investment floor.
Qualifications
Domain & Technical Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or a related field. Advanced degree (MBA, Master in Comp Sci, Data Engineering, AI etc.) or CFA is a strong asset.
Experience: 5-7+ years of experience in Capital Markets technology (Buy-side or Sell-side).
Product Knowledge: Deep understanding of financial products (Equities, Fixed Income, Derivatives, Private Markets) and the full investment lifecycle (Research, Order Management, Execution, Settlement).
Technical Stack:
Strong proficiency in SQL (complex joins, stored procedures, data modeling).
Strong proficiency in Python (pandas, numpy) for data analysis and scripting.
AI/ML Fluency: Solid understanding of AI model mechanics (LLMs, regression, classification) and experience integrating data science concepts into business workflows.
Soft Skills & Competencies
Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communicator. Proven ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical senior leadership and facilitate tense SteerCo discussions.
Stakeholder Management: Experience working directly with Front Office (Traders/PMs) in a high-pressure environment; ability to manage competing priorities and push back when necessary.
Strategic Thinking: Leverage a holistic view of the enterprise to identify commonalities in client requests, ensuring that technology investments are engineered for scalability and leverage across the wider organization.

The expected salary range for this position is $103,000.00 - $157,000.00 per year.
