Job Description:

SUMMARY:

The Manager, Molecular Pathology Core will manage all aspects of the Molecular Pathology Core and participate in planning and executing biomedical research. Responsibilities of the position include the following:

  • Sample processing, embedding, sectioning and staining for sophisticated analysis using light and electron microscopy, selecting and optimizing protocols for both routine and non-routine samples, providing consultation on research projects, training users and managing the core.

  • Provides operational management of the Molecular Pathology Core Facility by fielding all requests for sample processing, processing the samples, maintaining equipment, ensuring adherence to all safety precautions, and by training and supervising all core users.

  • The Manager, Molecular Pathology Core will also maintain core user databases, track publications and

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in organized research, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Relevant experience in histotechnology and microscopy, or Histotechnician (HT) accreditation through an ASCP accredited program or equivalent combination of education and experience

Job Competencies

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with a broad range of people.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and work under strict guidelines.

  • Good computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), and understanding of hardware.

  • Good record keeping skills

  • Ability to train users on a variety of instruments
