Compensation Range
Annual Salary: $82,000.00 - $96,500.00 (Amount based on relevant experience, skills, and competencies.)About This Job
The main purpose of this job is to establish and monitor key risk controls, performance and productivity standards while managing the production of the department(s) to consistently ensure compliance with department and bank policies. Accounting responsibilities of this role impact the Real Estate Lending line of business in all markets of Commerce Bank.
Essential Functions
Oversee department workflow and effectively communicate decisions, priorities and relevant information to team members
Provide guidance to employees on departmental projects/issues, coach and develop training plans, lead development conversations and answer day-to-day questions for team members
Lead, mentor and motivate team members to implement the department strategy and manage department workflow
Perform all necessary management functions, including hiring, evaluations, annual increase allocations and disciplinary action as required
Communicate decisions, priorities and relevant information to team members effectively
Oversee reconciliation of all General Ledger accounts, perform monetary maintenance on customer accounts and make monthly adjustments to General Ledger balances
Ensure that proper internal controls and procedures are established and followed for each accounting function and in compliance with GAAP and internal reconciliation policies and procedures
Manage the daily settlement and reporting of funds
Ensure regulations set forth by Commerce Bank’s Legal, Compliance and Risk Departments, including Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX), are following appropriately
Manage expense for department
Lead projects that support the line of businesses assigned
Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
Strong knowledge of the accounting field, including knowledge of best practices and regulations
Knowledge of supporting operating systems
Strong initiative, with ability to take independent action
Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to apply discretion and sound judgement to efficiently and effectively solve problems
Ability to drive results and balance management of organizational risk and meeting goals of the business
Strong leadership skills with ability to motivate team members and foster a positive team environment that gives way to collaboration and unified goals
Ability to develop and coach team members with proven ability to achieve results through collaboration and teamwork
Self-starter with strong decision-making skills and the ability to effectively communicate and interact with all levels of the company, clearly expressing ideas and concepts, both verbally and in writing
Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values
Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; or equivalent combination of education and experience required
3+ years accounting and/or banking experience required
1+ year leadership/supervisory experience required
