Job Description:

The Segment Adaptability Manager is responsible for maintaining alignment between internal management reporting and external financial reporting as UPS’s business model, operating segments, and governance structures evolve.
This role partners closely with Accounting, External Reporting, FP&A, Tax, and Financial Systems (FinTech) to design, implement, and govern enterprise reporting structures. The position serves as a key integrator and change leader, ensuring reporting hierarchies, data structures, and financial presentation remain accurate, consistent, and scalable across internal and external reporting.
The ideal candidate has strong enterprise reporting judgment, experience operating in ambiguity, and a proven ability to lead complex, cross‑functional reporting change in a large, matrixed organization.
Essential Job Functions
  • Maintain expert‑level understanding of enterprise financial reporting structures, including segment reporting, management reporting, and external disclosure requirements
  • Serve as a primary owner and gatekeeper for changes impacting reporting hierarchies, allocations, and financial data structures across P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow
  • Partner with External Reporting and Technical Accounting to ensure internal reporting structures appropriately support external disclosures and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate cross‑functional efforts across Accounting, FP&A, Tax, FinTech, and Business Unit finance teams to design and implement reporting changes driven by evolving business needs
  • Lead initiatives to simplify, standardize, and automate reporting processes with a focus on scalability, controls, and governance
  • Support segment, reporting unit, and component evaluations as organizational or operating changes occur
  • Contribute to development and maintenance of reporting governance frameworks, including documentation, controls, and decision ownership
  • Communicate complex reporting and structural changes clearly to finance leadership and key stakeholders
Required Competencies
  • Enterprise Financial Reporting: Strong understanding of segment reporting concepts and the linkage between management reporting and external disclosures
  • Data & Systems Acumen: Experience with financial data models, reporting hierarchies, and enterprise reporting systems (e.g., consolidation, planning, analytics platforms)
  • Analytical Judgment: Ability to evaluate tradeoffs, identify gaps or inconsistencies, and recommend practical solutions
  • Change Leadership: Demonstrated success leading cross‑functional stakeholders through reporting, systems, or structural change
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive‑level communication
  • Collaboration: Ability to operate effectively in a highly matrixed environment
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Experience in large, complex organization with exposure to enterprise reporting, external reporting, or financial systems
